International Istanbul Theatre Festival Featues Plays in Many Languages, 5/10 - 6/10

This year's International Istanbul Theatre Festival is set to feature artists from around the world in a wide variety of plays in many different languages. Actors and dancers from Japan, Belgium, Britain, Germany, Italy, and the United States will be performing at the festival's 15 venues which include: the Atatürk Cultural Centre, Sabancý University Performing Arts Centre, Institut Français d'Ýstanbul, Casa d'Italia, Pera Museum, Talimhane Theatre and Theatre Z. This year's festival will take place May 10 - June 10.

The two shows in English include The Infernal Comedy featuring John Malkovich, on May 14 and Airswimming on May 28-29.  The event will also feature several pieces in Italian (Holiday Trilogy) and German (The Ruhr Trilogy).  Tickets range from $7-$100 and can be purchased at http://www.iksv.org.

Every year, The International Istanbul Theatre Festival includes in its program the finest examples of classical and experimental theater, dance/ physical theatre, music theatre, theatrical concerts. From its start until today, the finest examples of national/ international groups, artists and productions participated in the Festival. Since 1997 the InterNational Theatre Festival presents two "Honorary Awards" to one international and one Turkish theater personality for their lifetime achievement in the field of performing arts. The awards are presented each year during the opening ceremony of the Festival. The International Istanbul Theater Festival attracts an audience of more than 20.000 people.
