William Shakespeare and opera itself were born in nearly the same year. While the very first operas were being composed in Italy, Shakespeare was writing his plays. His influence on music and musical drama is monumental. In 2016, 400 years after his death, we – along with the rest of the world – will celebrate the Bard. Our events will include this concert, with music inspired by Shakespeare's drama about the enigmatic Danish prince.
