High summer, the longest day, and all come together to celebrate the most cherished of traditions - midsummer. Expectations are high; pick seven kinds of flowers, drinking schnapps, dancing around a maypole, and maybe find a new love? A night filled with love and eroticism when nature flows of forces. As the boundary between the human world and the supernatural realm is getting thinner and thinner as the bottle gets emptier and emptier. The traditions are playing tricks on us, the world is changing and suddenly we do not know - is it all a dream? The acclaimed Swedish choreographer Alexander Ekman is back and creates a new full-evening work for the Royal Ballet. The last time he was up to date at the Royal Opera was in 2012 when he created the work Tulle which was a huge success. As in Tulle stands composer Mikael Karlsson, who has previously worked with, among others, Kleerup and Lykke Li, for parts of the music. A Swedish Midsummer Night's Dream broadcast live in cinemas 18 April 2015.
