The music department strives to enrich and inspire the human mind and spirit through the pursuit of excellence in creative activity, research, teaching, and service. The Department of Music is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music. Two baccalaureate degrees in music are available: the Bachelor of Music and the Bachelor of Arts with a Major in Music. This professional degree is officially described as the Bachelor of Music - Music Education, with specialization or emphasis in a particular area (such as instrumental or choral). Enrolling in the Music Education program means you are a music major, and much of your coursework is very specific to music education. Music Education majors are not enrolled in the College of Education, they are in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences, of which the Department of Music is a member.
