Bachelor of Music Education in Music Education

The Department of Music’s mission is to prepare music majors for careers in the field of music by completing requirements for bachelor’s degrees in Performance, Music Education, and Liberal Arts. The Department provides supportive instruction to both majors and non-majors in music theory, music history, music education, and performance to cultivate the development of musical skills, knowledge, and appreciation. The Department works to foster an engaging and stimulating environment on campus and in the surrounding community by presenting musical performances that are open to the public, mentoring music students of all ages, and developing partnerships with school music programs and music teachers in the region and state.

Mississippi Museum Of Art Receives $275,000 NEH Grant For Reinstallation Of Its Permanent Collection

The Mississippi Museum of Art (MMA) has been awarded a $275,000 grant by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). The grant was given in support of the MMA's reinstallation of its permanent collection and the creation of accompanying public programming and publications that focus on the art and stories of Mississippi. The reinstalled permanent collection is scheduled to open on Saturday, June 29, 2019.

More artists have been announced to perform at the Chillin' on the Lucie music festival in Port St. Lucie, Fla., Oct. 3 - 7. Uncle Kracker has joined the roster, as well as Cassadee Pope, Parmalee, Josh Gracin, Clare Dunn, Kalie Shorr, Hudson Moore and Lewis Brice. Twang and Round, Radio Romance, Julia Cole, Honey County, County Wide and Libby Switzer are also set to perform.
