Asolo Repertory Theatre welcomes two-time Tony Award nominee and Broadway favorite Mary Testa in the role of Angela in the upcoming production of Geraldine Aron's acclaimed one-woman show, My Brilliant Divorce.

"We are over the moon to have Mary back in Sarasota for a second season. She was such a huge hit in last year's Love, Loss and What I Wore, we knew it would only be a short time before we were welcoming her back to the Asolo Rep family," said Michael Donald Edwards, Producing Artistic Director of Asolo Rep and the director of My Brilliant Divorce. "This particular production, an exceptionally well-written, one-person show about a woman undergoing a difficult divorce, is funny, witty, emotional, truthful, and plays to Mary's strength as a comedic actress."

Described by the UK's Daily Mail as being "irresistible as a chocolate truffle," My Brilliant Divorce is a laugh-out-loud gem from across the pond exploring the topics of divorce, dating, and the search for love in a deliciously entertaining way. Set in London, the story revolves around ex-pat Angela (Testa), a middle-aged woman who is blindsided by her husband's sudden decision to leave her. Adrift in a sea of bizarre dates, shifty lawyers, telephone helplines, and impending poverty, Angela finds within herself the strength to begin again and find new love.

Mary Testa was nominated for a Tony Award for her performances in On the Town and 42nd Street. Her other Broadway credits include Xanadu, for which she received a Drama Desk nomination, Guys and Dolls, Chicago, Marie Christine, The Rink, Marilyn, and Barnum. In recognition of three decades of outstanding work on the New York stage, she was honored with the 2012 Drama Desk Award, which also singled out her bravura performance in Michael John LaChiusa's Queen of the Mist, for which she also received Lucille Lortel and Drama League nominations. Mary has received Obie Awards for From Above and On the Town, and was nominated for Drama Desk Awards for See What I Wanna See (also Drama League Nomination), First Lady Suite, and String of Pearls. Mary has sung with many of the leading symphony orchestras in the country, including the New York Philharmonic, Boston Pops, Philly Pops, Minnesota Orchestra, and the St. Louis Symphony. On television, she had a recurring role on Whoopi, and has guest starred on Two Broke Girls, White Collar, Nurse Jackie, The Electric Company, Life on Mars, Cashmere Mafia, Waterfront, Sex and the City, Law and Order, and many others. Mary has also recorded several Original Cast Albums, including the recently-released Queen of the Mist.

Ticket prices for My Brilliant Divorce range from $20 to $43 for previews and $24 to $72 for regular performances. Tickets can be purchased at the Box Office in person or by calling 800.361.8388 or 941.351.8000 or online at www.asolorep.org. The Asolo Repertory Theatre and Box Office are located in The FSU Performing Arts Center adjacent to the Ringling Museum of Art.
