The Selfish Giant 2018

Solo Opera will produce their largest, most ambitious opera to date, The Three Feathers, with music by award winning composer, Lori Laitman and libretto by former CA poet laureate, Dana Gioia. This family friendly 85-minute show will be sung in English and run Sept. 8 and 10, 2023 at the Lesher Center for the Arts in the 785 seat Hofmann Theater.

Today on Friday, October 16th at 7pm, a special virtual reading of 'One Empire, Under God' - Anthony J. Piccione's new full-length drama exploring religious extremism & right-wing populism - will be broadcast via Zoom to monthly patrons on Patreon, as well as selected invited guests. Immediately after the reading, there will be a talkback - moderated by co-producer Jay Michaels - featuring the playwright, director & cast.

The Selfish Giant is a classic tale, by Oscar Wilde, about a giant who builds a wall around his garden to keep out the town's children but, in doing so, plunges his garden into an endless winter. The show's creators, Jose Ignacio Vivero and Susannah Dalton, instill a sense of urgency in the story by placing the storytellers themselves at a border wall. Traveling, depression-era hucksters, transform their wares to tell a much-needed story to the audience they find waiting to cross.

Stage Entertainment has announced the appointment of James Triner as International Executive Producer and Jamie Wolpert as Head of International Development. The appointments reflect the ambition of Stage Entertainment's international creative development and production teams.

Arcola Theatre, Atticist and Ellie Keel Productions today announce full cast for the UK premiere of Anna Bella Eema by Pulitzer Prize finalist Lisa D'Amour. Jessica Lazar directs Natasha Cottriall, Gabrielle Brooks and Beverley Rudd. The new production opens at Arcola Theatre on 16 September, with previews from 11 September, and runs until 12 October.

The first show will be the London premiere of Dave Malloy's celebrated song cycle Ghost Quartet brought to life by the team behind the recent hit production of Sweeney Todd which won great acclaim in London and New York. Ghost Quartet will run alongside a packed roster of late-night and Sunday performances of cabaret, improv, jazz, comedy, classical music and poetry. With rehearsals starting today, the full cast has been announced for Aria Entertainment's prestigious festival of new musical theatre, From Page To Stage (FPTS), which returns with gusto for a 6th successful year from September 2018 at London's Southwark Playhouse. As Kathy Burke's Lady Windermere's Fan, starring Jennifer Saunders and Samantha Spiro, plays to packed houses, Classic Spring is delighted to announce that Guy Chambers' new folk opera, The Selfish Giant, will be co-produced by Royal & Derngate, Northampton, and directed by multi-award-winning director Bill Buckhurst. The limited run of lightly-staged performances will run at Royal & Derngate 4 April - 7 April, before moving to the Vaudeville from 10 - 14 April. Jonathan Church will direct An Ideal Husband, the third production in the year-long celebration of Oscar Wilde at the Vaudeville Theatre. An Ideal Husband will play at the Vaudeville Theatre 20 April to 14 July 2018, before opening the Theatre Royal Bath Summer Season on 18 July to 4 August 2018.
