One of the biggest hits in theatrical history, CATS will come to Portland’s Keller Auditorium from Tuesday, June 21 through Sunday, June 26 as part of a new North American tour.

Get your first look at the North American tour of CATS. The new production officially opened at RBTL’s Auditorium Theatre in Rochester, NY and will visit more than 50 cities in the 2021/2022 season. 

2019 has come and gone, and we are reflecting on those we have lost in the Broadway and theatre communities throughout the year.

Broadway fans had plenty of reasons to celebrate this year, with dozens of shows having opened since January, hundreds of actors having made their debuts, and many more having returned to the stage for critically acclaimed performances. Not all news was good though, as we also suffered a loss of an incredible amount of talent. Below, BroadwayWorld sends a fond farewell to those who passed away in 2014.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts will produce, in association with La Jolla Playhouse, a re-imagining of Henry Krieger and Bill Russell's Side Show. Directed by Academy Award winning director Bill Condon, the musical will play at La Jolla Playhouse now through December 17 and will open at the Kennedy Center Eisenhower Theater in spring 2014. The musical features book and lyrics by Bill Russell and music by Henry Krieger who will revise the show before its debut at La Jolla. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!

Making Books Sing (MBS), the critically acclaimed New York-based non-profit that promotes children's literacy and social development through professional Theater Productions and arts-in-education programs will, in conjunction with The Louis Armstrong House Museum and the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College presents the world-premiere, Off-Broadway musical Louis Armstrong: JAZZ AMBASSADOR with book by Myla Churchill (MBS's "A Band of Angels") and featuring music made famous by Louis Armstong. Roland Auctions of New York City will be selling the estate of legendary playwright, director, and screenwriter, Arthur Laurents on Saturday, June 2, 2012. Mr. Laurents, whose credits include West Side Story, Gypsy, La Cage Aux Folles, Hallelujah, Baby and The Way We Were, amongst many others, had a long and distinguished career, both on Broadway and in Hollywood. Over 200 years ago the French Queen Marie Antoinette stepped up to the executioners side and muttered the words 'Excuse me, I did not mean to do it.' Hear the story leading up to this monumental moment in Joel Gross's 'Marie Antoinette: The Color of Flesh,' which begins in previews on July 28 at Performance Network Theatre. This sexy drama, running through August 28, will feature Jill Dion, Drew Parker ('The Sins of Sor Juana') and Chelsea Sadler ('The Little Dog Laughed'), as Marie. It is directed by Shannon Ferrante.

The Columbus Symphony today announced the winners of the 2011 Music Educator Awards, honoring individuals who make a difference in the community through a dedication to music education, and their efforts to promote a greater understanding of and appreciation for music education.
