Christopher Bishop Fine Art has announced the gallery's spring exhibition, Modern Masters: 1930 – 2008, on view from May 11 through June 3, 2023. The exhibition will present exceptional modern and contemporary drawings and watercolor paintings by Georg Baselitz, Henri Matisse, Sam Francis, and Zao Wou-Ki.

The 17th Annual Provincetown Tennessee Williams Theater Festival has announced its September program titled Tutti Frutti Tennessee Williams.  The 2022 roster will feature six plays by Tennessee Williams, the first time the Festival will feature an All-Williams lineup since their first year in 2006.

Pan Asian Repertory Theatre is launching its 44th Milestone Season with the virtual revival presentation of the film noir infused thriller Film Chinois, a re-envisioned radio play adaptation written by Damon Chua (The Emperors Nightingale).

CMS's 50th anniversary season will celebrate the 250th birthday of Beethoven with the 2020 edition of the Winter Festival of performances of all sixteen of the master's string quartets. They will be performed in groups corresponding to the composer's early, middle, and late periods, in the order they were composed between 1798 and 1826. Performing the sixteen quartets is a mental, physical, and emotional challenge for the artists, and they are rarely performed as a set.  For the CMS Winter Festival the performances will be by the critically-acclaimed Danish String Quartet.

Due to Hurricane Harvey, Houston Ballet is unable to perform the opening two productions at the company's home venue. However, Houston Ballet is pleased to report that select performances of fall programming have been rescheduled at THE HOBBY CENTER - SAROFIM HALL. For a limited time on October 26 and 27 at The Hobby Center, Houston Ballet will perform an exhilarating mixed repertory program, Poetry in Motion, featuring a collection of three works that reflect different traditions and expressions in ballet.

Tennessee Williams published Summer and Smoke in 1948 and revised and rewrote it in 1964 as The Eccentricities of a Nightingale. Summer and Smoke is the popular, much revived version despite the fact Tennessee himself among many critics considered the second version to be the most lyrical representation of Miss Alma, the Spanish word for soul. In both plays singer/music teacher Alma Winemiller (Tara Battani), daughter of an Episcopalean minister (Jeffrey Markle), is passionately in love with her neighbor young Dr. John Buchanan (Gregory James) and when that love is gradually unrequited rather than become a miserable spinster, after a long struggle of illness and isolation, she turns to prostitution. In a handsome production of Summer and Smoke at Actors co-op, Williams' debate between the flesh and the spirit, body vs. soul, is still burning with poetic truth after almost 70 years.

La Jolla Playhouse announces the cast and creative team for Guards at the Taj, the final production of the 2015/2016 season. Written by Pulitzer Prize finalist Rajiv Joseph (Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo), the show marks Associate Artistic Director Jaime Castañeda's directorial debut at the Playhouse. The production will run February 2 - 28, 2016 (press opening: Wednesday, February 10) in the Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre. La Jolla Playhouse, nationally-renowned for its development of new work, has announced four world-premiere productions for the 2016/2017 season, including works by Tony Award winner Joe DiPietro, Pulitzer Prize winners Quiara Alegria Hudes and Ayad Akhtar, and 2014 Barrie and Bernice Stavis Playwriting Award winner Jeff Augustin.

To mark the Centenary of Arthur Miller's birth and the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, Richard Beecham will direct a revival of Miller'sPlaying for Time in the Crucible. Russia's profound and far-reaching impact on 20th-century culture will be explored at the 2013 annual Bard SummerScape festival, which once again offers an extraordinary summer of music, opera, theater, dance, film, and cabaret, keyed to the theme of the 24th annual Bard Music Festival, Stravinsky and His World. Presented in the striking Richard B. Fisher Center for the Performing Arts and other venues on Bard College's bucolic Hudson River campus, the seven-week festival opens on July 6 with the first of two performances of A Rite (2013) by the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company and SITI Company, and closes on August 18 with a party in Bard's beloved Spiegeltent, which returns for the full seven weeks. Complementing the Bard Music Festival's exploration of “Stravinsky and His World,” some of the great Russian-born composer's most captivating compatriots provide key SummerScape highlights. These include the first fully-staged American production of Sergey Taneyev's opera Oresteia; the world premiere of an original stage adaptation of Mikhail Bulgakov's seminal novel The Master and Margarita; and a film festival titled “Between Traditions: Stravinsky's Legacy and Russian Emigré Cinema.” Together, SummerScape's offerings will continue Bard's yearlong tenth-anniversary celebrations for the Frank Gehry-designed Fisher Center, which commence with a month of special performances in April.

Running in the Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre July 10 - August 5, 2012, The Nightingale will be presented as part of the Playhouse's acclaimed Page To Stage Play Development Program.
