The 36th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Awards Program will be held Thursday, Jan. 11, at 6 p.m. at the Casino Live Hotel Ballroom in Hanover, Md. Dignitaries attending will include Maryland Governor Wes Moore, U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen, Congressman John Sarbanes, County Executive Steuart Pittman, and Annapolis Mayor Gavin Buckley. The keynote speaker will be Congressman Jonathan Jackson, the youngest son of Rev. Jesse Jackson and godson to Dr. King. Governor Moore will also provide comments at the event.

This year's competition jury will be headed by Gabrielle Tana, Dick Fontaine and Barbara Albert as Jury Presidents. ZFF screens first, second and third directorial works in the three competition categories International Feature Film, International Documentary Film and Focus: Switzerland, Germany, Austria. A separate independent jury of experts will judge the films in each of the three categories and award their Golden Eye during the Award Night at Zurich Opera House on Saturday, October 6.

Just in time for this summer's hottest blockbuster releases, the Coca-Cola and Regal Films program announced the student finalist winners of the 2018 program at CinemaCon in Las Vegas. Clara Montague and Eva Kirie from Ithaca College are the 2018 grand prize winners, and their 35-second film The Library will be shown exclusively at Regal theatres across the country starting in May this summer.
