Golden Thread Productions, the first American theatre company devoted to the Middle East, presents the West Coast premiere of Amir Nizar Zuabi's Oh My Sweet Land, a tour-de-force solo show based on interviews with Syrian refugees in Jordan. Instead of staging the play in a theater, Golden Thread will present the show in kitchens around the Bay Area with performances followed by food sharing and community conversations.

Another favorite Lord Peter Wimsey novel comes to the stage this fall as Taproot Theatre presents Dorothy L. Sayers' classic mystery, Gaudy Night. Harriet Vane's Oxford reunion is terrorized by murderous threats from the "Poison Pen," a vicious vandal determined to destroy our heroine and everything she holds dear. Is her sleuthing enough to apprehend the villain? And where is Lord Peter when she really needs him? Producing Artistic Director Scott Nolte directs Frances Limoncelli's adaptation of Gaudy Night, which opened last night, September 21 and runs through October 20. Intiman Theatre, under the leadership of Artistic Director Bartlett Sher and Managing Director Brian Colburn, opens its 2009 season with a 90-minute, three-actor version of Dostoyevsky's classic suspense novel Crime and Punishment, adapted by Marilyn Campbell and Curt Columbus, and directed by Sheila Daniels. Performances will begin at the Intiman Playhouse, 201 Mercer Street at Seattle Center, on Sunday, March 29 and continue through Sunday, May 3.
