What did our critic think of AN EVENING WITH AUDRA MCDONALD at BLOSSOM Music Center?

Arden Theatre Company is bringing audiences back into the world of August Wilson’s ten-part series, The American Century Cycle. Audiences are currently journeying to Pittsburgh in the late 1990s for the final play of the cycle, August Wilson’s Radio Golf. Kash Goins, who was an actor in the Arden’s production of Two Trains Running, returns to direct. August Wilson’s Radio Golf runs through April 16. Check out a first look at the production here!

The Fred Ebb Foundation (Mitchell S. Bernard, Trustee) in association with the Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) presented the fifteenth annual Fred Ebb Award for aspiring musical theatre songwriters to Angela Sclafani & Benjamin Velez. The award, named in honor of the late award-winning lyricist Fred Ebb, was presented by Kate Baldwin on Monday, December 2nd from 6-8pm at a by-invitation-only ceremony in the Penthouse Lounge of The American Airlines Theater.

Broadway fans had plenty of reasons to celebrate this year, with dozens of shows having opened since January, hundreds of actors having made their debuts, and many more having returned to the stage for critically acclaimed performances. Not all news was good though, as we also suffered a loss of an incredible amount of talent. Below, BroadwayWorld sends a fond farewell to those who passed away in 2014.

ANNIE, the new production of the Tony Award-winning musical, went into rehearsal today in New York City with its full company. The production begins previews October 3, 2012 and opens November 8, 2012 at the Palace Theatre (Broadway at 47th Street). Meet the full cast below!

Lincoln Center Theater's production of the new musical WOMEN ON THE VERGE OF A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN, based on the film by Pedro Almodóvar, with a book by Jeffrey Lane, music and lyrics by David Yazbek and direction by Bartlett Sher opened last night November 4 at The Belasco Theatre on Broadway. A long-standing opening night tradition on the Great White Way, the fabled Gypsy Robe is bestowed upon a veteran Broadway chorus member for each opening production. In what has now become a theatrical ritual, originating on Broadway 60 years ago, Julio Agustin was the given the robe.

On Sunday, October 31, the company of THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS celebrated their opening night with the Gypsy Robe ritual. The company's recipient was JC Montgomery. BroadwayWorld was on hand for the event and brings you photo coverage below.

Actors Equity held a celebration for the 60th Anniversary of the Gypsy Robe on Monday night, October 25th at Sequoia on Pier 17 at the South Street Seaport where past gypsy robe winners came back to reminisce and to celebrate.

Transport Group, the winner of a special 2007 Drama Desk Award and 2007 and 2010 OBIE Awards, introduced the cast of the New York premiere of See Rock City & Other Destinations, music by Brad Alexander; book and lyrics by Adam Mathias; directed by Artistic Director Jack Cummings III, yesterday, June 21. THROUGH THE NIGHT, a solo play written and performed by Obie-Award winner Daniel Beaty, will open off Broadway at The Riverside Theatre, 91 Claremont Avenue on Friday, May 7th (Previews begin on May 4th). THROUGH THE NIGHT, recently premiered as a co-production with the Crossroads Theatre (New Brunswick, NJ) and The Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles to great acclaim.

Actors Robert Wagner and Jill St. John were in attendance at a recent performance of Transport Group's THE BOYS IN THE BAND. The production is currently running through March 28 at 37 West 26th Street, Penthouse (b/w Sixth Ave. & Broadway).

Transport Group (TG), the winner of a special 2007 Drama Desk Award and a 2007 Obie Award, will present Mart Crowley's The Boys in the Band, directed by artistic director Jack Cummings III, beginning Friday, February 12, and opening Sunday, February 21, at 5pm in a site-specific production at 37 West 26 Street, between Broadway and Sixth Avenue, Penthouse.

Tony winner Lin-Manuel Miranda will guest star this upcoming season on Fox's dramatic hit series HOUSE. Miranda will appear in the show's upcoming season premiere tonight, September 21st as title character House's psychiatric hospital roommate.

IN THE HEIGHTS is the winner of four 2008 Tony Awards including Best Musical. Lin-Manuel Miranda won the 2008 Tony for Best Music and Lyrics, Andy Blankenbuehler won the 2008 Tony for Best Choreography, and Alex Lacamoire and Bill Sherman won the 2008 Tony Award for Best Orchestrations. The production recently welcomed new cast members Marcy Harriell and Rick Negron.

Transport Group will present Marcy in the Galaxy, a world premiere musical, with book, music, and lyrics by Nancy Shayne, based on a story by Ms. Shayne and Michael Patrick King, and directed by artistic director Jack Cummings III beginning performances Friday, March 28. The opening has been scheduled for Sunday, April 6 at 3PM.
