Westport Country Playhouse commemorates the centennial year of playwright Arthur Miller (1915-2005) with one of his last works, BROKEN GLASS, helmed by Playhouse artistic director Mark Lamos, playing now through October 24. Set in 1938 Brooklyn at the time of Nazi Germany's Kristallnacht (The Night of Broken Glass), the powerful drama incites a dangerous game of concealment, suspicion, and lies. Taye Diggs just took over the title role in Broadway's HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH, making his return to the Great White Way after a decade-long hiatus. Diggs stars in the acclaimed musical for a limited 12-week engagement. He takes over from Darren Criss, who just finished his run on July 19 at the Belasco Theatre.

Americans for the Arts, the leading organization for advancing the arts in America, announces its annual National Arts Awards honorees. The awards recognize those artists and arts leaders who exhibit exemplary national leadership and whose work demonstrates extraordinary artistic achievement. They are individuals-artists, business leaders and patrons-who understand the arts enrich people and communities alike. The National Arts Awards were presented on October 18th in New York City as part of National Arts and Humanities Month.

Kandis Chappell and Melanie Lora take on the celebrated roles of Professor Ruth Steiner and Lisa Morrison in Donald Margulies? Collected Stories at South Coast Repertory. Margulies? Pulitzer Prize-nominated play about two women writers at opposite stages of their careers is one of SCR?s best-known commissions and has achieved worldwide success. Directed by Artistic Director Martin Benson, Collected Stories will run from May 15 through June 14, 2009 on the Segerstrom Stage. Low-priced previews are available from May 15 through May 21. Opening night is May 22.
