Life's greatest tragedy is the passage of time. It is a lesson we all must learn eventually. Within the proverbial circle of life, there is only a beginning and an end that occurs in the immediacy of our own lifetime. Yet, the cyclical nature of birth, death, and rebirth ensures that our spirit will carry on in legacy rather than in flesh. If we are loved, then we are remembered. And if we are remembered, then we live forever. Disney’s The Lion King transposes this message from screen to stage through an international collaboration of talent that supercedes the strength of the 1994 animated film from which it came.

I like to write all the time and generally write two plays a year, just because I take very seriously the notion of this being my profession. I would say playwright is spelled WRIGHT [write]. It's like a Cartwright or a wheelwright. It's somebody who rolls up their sleeves and does their work.

I HATE HAMLET by Paul Rudnick is cute, silly little nod to all you theater nerds. Rudnick wrote I HATE HAMLET in the early ‘90s, while living in the very same New York apartment which housed John Barrymore before he began performing his legendary Hamlet uptown. Rudnick believed the place provided a “strong inspiration” given its steep flights of stairs, walls of rough stucco, and a spooky, odd-shaped niche high in the wall, used for a candle (or a skull).
