For this original production, Connective Theatre Company ensemble member Taylor McWilliams-Woods asked Americans from across the political spectrum how they define America and why we shoulda?"or should nota?"fight for it. She shaped responses from thirty of those interviews into MORNING IN AMERICA, a piece that combines the structure of Eve Ensler's THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES as well as Moises Kauffman's THE LARAMIE PROJECT in order to tell the stories of real Americans and to share their perspectives on the current state of the country and their hopes for its future. The goal: to use theatre as a medium through which audience members may begin to open up a dialogue a?oeacross the aisle,a?? listen to each other, and be more empathetic to those with political views and beliefs that differ from their own.

As the Earth crumbles around us and we continue to kill everything in our path, it is time we face the paradoxic integration of evils within ourselves: sterility and garbage, meaninglessness, sexuality as the sin of origin, the contradictory drives of human things. KOSMOS INVERS is the creation of two inverse planets filled with bizarre otherworldly puppets: one, an Edenic parallel of our green earth; and the other, its tentacled pink opposite. Strange fragments of stories coalesce through the contours of different biomes piecing together a patchwork of utopian armageddon and weird psychological metaphors with a green cosmic bent.

Theatre444 will bring The Vagina Monologues to the stage, with all proceeds to benefit Safe Harbors of the Finger Lakes. Eve Ensler wrote the first draft of the monologues in 1996 (there have been several revisions since) following interviews she conducted with 200 women about their views on sex, relationships, and violence against women. In an interview with Women.com, Ensler said that her fascination with vaginas began because of growing up in a violent society. 'Women's empowerment is deeply connected to their sexuality.' Ensler states that in 1998, the purpose of the piece changed from a celebration of vaginas and femininity to a movement to stop violence against women. This was the start of the V-Day movement which has continued strong every year since, has turned into a worldwide phenomenon, and a very successful non-profit organization. The V-Day global activist movement to end violence against all women and girls is more active than ever. Every February women all over the world ban together in this movement and Theatre444 is proud to be a part of it.
