New Federal Theatre Celebrates Women's History Month with an online readings series.

Theater J, the nation's largest and most prominent Jewish theater, continues its signature Yiddish Theater Lab with readings of two plays in May. The plays are The Rented Bridegroom by Rinne Groff (adapted from a play by Osip Dymov) on May 6 at Foundry Church and Yankl the Blacksmith by David Pinski on May 20 at the Goethe-Institut. These readings follow the first full production of the Yiddish Theater Lab,

Falls directs his adaptation, based on a translation by Eleanor Marx-Aveling, with a cast featuring Philip Earl Johnson as Thomas Stockmann, doctor and chief medical officer of the baths; Scott Jaeck as Peter Stockmann, Thomas' older brother and town mayor; Lanise Antoine Shelley as Katherine, Thomas' wife; Rebecca Hurd as Thomas' daughter, Petra. Rounding out the cast are Jesse Bhamrah (Billing), David Darlow (Morten Kiil), Allen Gilmore (Aslaksen), Aubrey Deeker Hernandez (Hovstad), Larry Neumann, Jr. (The Drunk) and Carley Cornelius, Arya Daire, Guy Massey, Roderick Peeples and Dustin Whitehead as townspeople.

Following a sell-out season at the Abbey Theatre as part of the 100th anniversary celebrations of the 1916 Easter Rising, as well as a successful Irish and US tour, The Plough and the Stars comes to the Lyric Hammersmith as a co-production with the Abbey Theatre.

Tennessee Shakespeare Company, now celebrating its Tenth Anniversary Season as the Mid-South's professional, classical theatre and education organization, will stage Samuel Beckett's tragicomedy, Waiting for Godot, at Dixon Gallery & Gardens from December 7-17.

Following a successful tour of Alan Ayckbourn's Absent Friends, today London Classic Theatre announces the cast for its production of Waiting for Godot, as part of the company's 15th anniversary season. London Classic Theatre Artistic Director Michael Cabot directs Jonathan Ashley (Pozzo), Peter Cadden (Vladimir), Richard Heap (Estragon), Michael Keane (Lucky) and Sonja Zobel (A Boy). The production tours to 37 venues around the UK this autumn, starting at Theatre Severn, Shrewsbury on 9 September.

The Boston Symphony Orchestra and Music Director Andris Nelsons have entered into a new partnership to create Classical Live, a unique initiative that offers a new paradigm for the distribution of live recordings of classical music available only on Google Play Music. Classical Live will offer participating orchestras—the BSO, Cleveland Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, London Symphony Orchestra, and Amsterdam's Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra—an opportunity to release up to four live concert recordings each season for download exclusively on Google Play Music with the first recordings to be made available at music.google.com or classical-live.com beginning on June 15.

As celebrations kick off for Shakespeare's 450th birthday on 23 April this year, his position as the people's playwright is stronger than ever - as proof of this, his plays are being performed around the country in village halls, community centres, pubs, castles, churches, and even in a quarry by an army of amateur theatre makers.

Orange County, Calif.—Dec. 3, 2013—One of Russia's most fascinating and complex composers—Dmitri Shostakovich—goes under the magnifying glass when Pacific Symphony partners with Chapman University's Global Arts Program to present “Decoding Shostakovich,” a festival dedicated to the iconic composer, whose life unfolded under the Soviet system. There are myriad reasons for a festival devoted to this fascinating man, beginning with the tremendous impact he had on classical music in Russia and beyond. Through classical concerts and a wide array of presentations (discussions, film, dance, lecture, piano recital, theater, symposium, book club and master classes), “Decoding Shostakovich” probes deeply into the man to reveal the composer's relationship to his home country, its culture and politics and the effects these had on his music. Rose Theatre Kingston and English Touring Theatre will co-produce a new translation of Henrik Ibsen's classic, Ghosts this autumn. Stephen Unwin, outgoing Artistic Director of the Rose Theatre, will direct his own translation which will premiere at the Rose on the 19 September before touring nationwide to Salisbury, Oxford, Guildford, York, Watford, Malvern and Brighton. Unwin has a long standing connection with Ibsen's work, and this will be the 7th Ibsen play he has directed. This will be the second play translation that Unwin has written, following his highly acclaimed translation of The Lady from the Sea in 2012 at the Rose Theatre.

Shakespeare & Company, Artistic Director Tony Simotes and the Peck School of the Arts are pleased to announce that Dennis Krausnick, Shakespeare & Company Director of Training and star of this summer's acclaimed main stage production of The Tragedy of King Lear, will reprise the role of the aging monarch in a production at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM). This production of The Tragedy of King Lear will also be directed by Rebecca Holderness, a professor at the Peck School, and is part of the university's 'Year of the Arts' celebration, which recognizes the 50th anniversary of the Peck School of the Arts.
