On the 30th October, 1938, Orson Welles broadcast a dramatisation of The War of the Worlds. Seventy five years and one day later the South Australian Radio Collective played a recording of that radio play to an audience who assembled especially to hear this work.

Few plays have stood the test of time in the way that The Importance of Being Earnest has. Written in 1895, this 'Serious Comedy for Trivial People,' as playwright Oscar Wilde termed it, offers situations and comedy that remain timeless and fresh. The characters are memorable, from the careless and self-centered Jack to the innocent and impressionable Cecily. Wilde skewers Victorian society in a manner that leaves audiences laughing from start to finish.

Adelaide Festival Centre Announces 2012 Season

Throughout the year, Adelaide Festival Centre Season 2012 will present over 200 performances and 45 individual shows encompassing music, theatre, dance, circus, 10 exhibitions, with 11 forums and workshops and seven films. It includes two world premieres, six Australian premieres and four performances exclusive to Adelaide. The program features artists and companies from across Australia and the globe including the UK, Russia, the United States, New Zealand, France, Croatia and China.

The new Broadway production of George Bernard Shaw's play Mrs. Warren's Profession will star Tony Award winner Cherry Jones as 'Kitty Warren' & Golden Globe winner Sally Hawkins making her Broadway debut as 'Vivie Warren.' The production will be directed by Tony Award winner Doug Hughes at the American Airlines Theatre on Broadway (227 West 42nd St). The cast will also feature Adam Driver as 'Frank Gardner', Mark Harelik as 'Sir George Crofts', Edward Hibbert as 'Mr. Praed' & Michael Siberry as 'Reverend Samuel Gardner'.
