freeFall Theatre in St. Petersburg, FL and The Hippodrome Theatre in Gainesville, FL have joined forces to co-present two productions in their 2019/2020 season. freeFall will present MARIE & ROSETTA opening  January 18 and Hippodrome will present LONE STAR SPIRITS opening January 24. The company will then transfer the productions to their respective spaces after the initial run of each show. Both shows will run a combined total of over 8 weeks.

Nancy Carol Lewis Jones died peacefully on December 20, 2019 at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City after a short illness.  She was born on the February 20, 1943 in Detroit to Mack and Carol Edith (nee Schulz) Lewis. She attended Cooke Elementary, Redford High, and Michigan State University, where she majored in TV and Radio Production. At MSU she was Campus Correspondent for Billboard and first became seriously interested in the British Music scene when she went to review a concert of The Dave Clark Five in Lansing.

Dynamic vocal and instrumental performances by Kavan Hashemian (Elvis Presley), Chris Lash (Jerry Lee Lewis), Skye Scott (Carl Perkins), and Gregg Hammer (Johnny Cash) of that session's songs provoke an irrepressible audience outburst of finger-snapping, toe-tapping elation. 1957 was a momentous year in country music. The radio was filled with huge hits by the stars of the day: Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Ferlin Husky and Jim Reeves. Future stars like Patty Loveless, Vince Gill and Pam Tillis were all born in 1957. Meanwhile, in a Kalamazoo, Michigan factory, one of the first Gibson guitars featuring a cutaway and built-in pickup was being manufactured. That guitar would become a prized possession of Woody Lynch, who would eventually pass it along to his son, a 19-year-old burgeoning country artist, Richard Lynch.

On Friday, December 13, I had the pleasure of seeing JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT spectacularly performed at the Downtown Cabaret Theatre in Bridgeport, CT.  Marking the fiftieth anniversary of this very first musical collaboration between songwriter Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyricist Tim Rice, this show remains entertaining to audiences across multiple generations.   Under the direction of Andrea Pane and choreography of Cassie Caroll, this stellar cast delivers a phenomenal performance!  The cast includes some of my favorite familiar local talent, such as Robert Peterpaul, Andrea Pane, Everton Ricketts, and Cassie Caroll.  This show has now also introduced me to the amazing talent of Desi Amato, who shines as the best narrator I have ever seen in this show.

The family-friendly fun of Lythgoe Family Productions' annual holiday British Panto returns to the Laguna Playhouse, this time with the reimagined Yuletide re-telling of PETER PAN & TINKER BELL: A PIRATE'S CHRISTMAS, which continues through December 29, 2019 in the city of Laguna Beach. Overall, the show is an amusing, energetic Panto, though admittedly not as over-the-top as the two previous holiday Panto's that I have seen staged here. Still, the show had me smiling the whole time, and it's safe to say that you and your family will like sharing the experience, too.
