A Noise Within (ANW), the acclaimed classical repertory theatre company, is bringing back its smash hit production of MICHAEL FRAYN's hilarious NOISES OFF from Saturday, April 21 to Sunday, May 20, 2018, reviving a critical and audience favorite for all to enjoy. Featuring most of the original A Noise Within cast, Noises Off, directed by Julia Rodriguez-Elliott and Geoff Elliott, pays tribute to the art of theatre-making itself as chaos reigns onstage and off.

Technology and our experience of entertainment go hand-in-hand. I remember watching movies on VHS tapes, seeing actual slides in classes in school, and saving computer documents on floppy disks. The 2014 Pulitzer Prize winner for Drama, The Flick by Annie Baker, is set in a movie theatre that is one of the last that still shows 35mm films. Being born in 1980, I fall into the last year of Generation X-part of that weird gap in between Gen X and Millennials that some have called Xennial. I learned how to type on a typewriter in high school, I know how exciting it was to hear 'you've got mail' and the frustration of waiting for a dial-up modem (not to mention the fact that if someone wanted to make a phone call you couldn't be on-line). Our phones had cords and you actually talked into them. And if you wanted to watch a movie at home you rented a VHS tape from Blockbuster. Many of us have experienced the transitions brought about by changes in technology. This is just one of the real-life themes that The Flick explores. This show will be performed by Open Stage Harrisburg at Midtown Cinema. Broadway World spoke with the director, Stuart Landon to learn more about this award-winning play.

Denver Center for the Performing Arts Broadway proudly announces the 2018/19 season, kicking off with the national tour launch of the 2017 Tony & Grammy-winning Best Musical, DEAR EVAN HANSEN, at The Buell Theatre September 25 through October 13, 2018. Against a backdrop of bitter intolerance and terrible violence in the Indian state of Assam in the 1980's, filmmaker Bidyut Kotoky's semi-autobiographical tale, Rainbow Fields (Xhoixobote Dhemalite), is told through the eyes of children impacted by events they don't fully understand. The children's playtime games lead to an incident that changes them forever, and years later as adults they must grapple with coming to terms with what happened, and with themselves. First rate acting, notably by Victor Banerjee (A Passage to India) and by the child actors, plus the rich cinematography, add to the depth of the film. For those who are familiar with, and especially for those who are unfamiliar with, this period of Indian history, this arresting film is a must-see.

Bridgeport High School will be presenting the three-time Tony award winning Broadway Musical Barnum in the Bridgeport High School Theatre. With music by Cy Coleman, lyrics by Michael Stewart and a book by Mark Bramble, this musical will transport you to the circus as you learn about the life of famed showman P.T. Barnum.

HOLY CROSS SUCKS! is Rob Nash's solo show that is a combination of four earlier separate plays: Freshman Year Sucks!, Sophomore Slump, Junior Blues and Senioritis. All of these earlier plays made their premiere at The Vortex between 1997 and 2000. HOLY CROSS SUCKS! played Off-Broadway in New York in 2005 where it was the recipient of a top ten award from Time Out New York magazine. Based on Nash's time at a Jesuit high school in Texas, HOLY CROSS SUCKS! is a hilarious and heartwarming look back at the 1980's. By combining the four earlier plays into one work, Nash has created a touchingly funny coming of age story of three friends that is rich in detail and made even more memorable by Nash's lightning fast character changes. Nash plays a grand total of 29 characters in the course of two hours making each character distinctly different all the way down to body language in a performance that is frankly remarkable.

Sundance Institute showcases bold, independent storytelling at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival, beginning with today's announcement of feature films selected across all categories. The Festival hosts screenings in Park City, Salt Lake City and at Sundance Mountain Resort, from January 18 28.

There is always a risk in seemingly simple dramatic two-handers. Where there are no visual tricks, no impressive set changes or sparkling costumes, the whole play relies on the chemistry and repartee between the two actors. Robin Lefevre's excellent revival of Tom Kempinski's Duet For One needs no trickery to make its simple structure incredibly compelling.

In a recent interview with Daily Beast, playwright Tony Kushner chats about one of his current projects- WEST SIDE STORY. Kushner is rewriting the book for the classic movie for director Steven Spielberg. Don't expect any changes to the score, however. "I am not touching in any way the greatest score of a musical ever written,' says Kushner. 'I love the [1961] film. Who doesn't? I am not changing the story, the setting, the period. It is still the Upper West Side in the late 1950s, but I'm exploring the story.'

Before Broadway's 'Hamilton' composer Lin-Manuel Miranda was the name on everybody's lips, Stephen Sondheim dominated the title of leading composer and lyricist in the 1970's and 1980's. After having both critical and commercial success with the Broadway musicals 'Company,' 'Follies,' 'A Little Night Music,' 'Pacific Overtures,' and 'Sweeney Todd,' 'Merrily We Roll Along,' starring a gaggle of fresh and talented youngsters opened at the Alvin Theater on November 16, 1981 and closed after fifty-two previews and sixteen regular performances. At the time, the show was the most anticipated amongst the Broadway community and the most panned by the critics on opening night. Only the score received a Tony Award nomination and still ranks as one of the composer's best.

FREE OUTGOING centers on a single mother and her two teenagers living in a very conservative Chennai, India. Strong performances from the talented cast of five vividly illustrate the consequences of a video of the 15-year-old daughter engaged in a sex act going viral.
