This past weekend I had the pleasure of seeing a production of Spamalot at the University of South Carolina Beaufort (USCB) Center for the Arts and it inspired me to discuss not only the importance of seeing theatre but also how there is so much theatre that is around you that you haven't yet discovered. This was my first time at this theatre, and it's about an hour and a half from Savannah. I was thrilled to learn there was another avenue to see more theatre that wasn't too far from where I lived.

Back in July, Felix Cartal released his dancefloor-friendly melodic house single 'Over It' ft. Veronica, and now he delivers the full experience with the release of its official music video. Lending vibrant life to the groovy track through a series of raw, blurry and vivid imagery, the video depicts the story of a woman letting go of a past love by reliving the passionate and adventurous memories of her youth. It draws the viewer in with emotional and realistic vignettes from the beginning until the very end, when the final catharsis of truly being 'Over It' occurs. Relatable to anyone who has struggled with releasing past trauma, Felix Cartal once again has created a masterful visual accompaniment to a track that strikes a chord in the hearts of many. Press play on the 'Over It' music video and prepare for your own version of letting go.

Raise your hand if you have ever discovered something new, Googled it, found the Wikipedia page, which then made you go off on a flurry of related topics and suddenly time has just passed by? I'll raise both hands because I'm not ashamed to say that this happens to me often. Sunday was one of those days, all thanks to the fantastic production of Silent Sky at Detroit Mercy Theatre Company who educated me on Henrietta Leavitt. The Lauren Gunderson play is the fascinating true story about the 19th century astronomer who was hired to join a group of women a?oecomputersa?? and living in an age when women could neither vote nor express an original idea. Despite not being allowed to touch a telescope, Leavitt and her female colleagues at the Harvard Observatory made ground-breaking discoveries about the universe that remain vital more than a century later. The simplicity and elegance of this production of Silent Sky made the importance of Gunderson's words stand out to the audience and the cast of five worked seamlessly together to bring this impactful and moving production to life. It is a brilliant piece of Michigan theatre.

Living in one of the most expensive cities in the United States as a stereotypically broke college student sounds like a financial disaster on paper. Thoughtful. Provocative. Exciting. Moving. Hilarious. This is how I would sum up Program C of Ballet Festival, performed at The Joyce Theater last Thursday night, August 15, 2019. Curated by Jean-Marc Puissant, the program consisted of three classical and contemporary pieces, diverse in both emotional and technical truths. Additionally, the caliber of dancing on this particular evening was superb–and not just because of the quality of the dancers themselves, but also because of their impeccable timing and synchronicity. Everybody was truly on their game.
