Due to critical acclaim and popular demand, Playwrights Horizons has announced an extension of their New York premiere production of FAMILIAR, a new play by Obie Award-winner Danai Gurira (Eclipsed now on Broadway, In the Continuum, The Convert, Michonne on AMC's 'The Walking Dead'). Directed by Rebecca Taichman (Stage Kiss, Milk Like Sugar at PH; The Oldest Boy; Marie Antoinette; Luck of the Irish; Orlando), the play is the fourth production of the theater company's 2015/2016 Season.

DALLAS, TX, December 8, 2015 – The Dallas Opera will present opera legend Frederica von Stade, mezzo-soprano, for another magnificent performance in The Robert E. and Jean Ann Titus Art Song Recital Series. On Broad Street in the heart of Philadelphia, nationally known as a center for experimental, boundary-pushing performance, a new partnership between Pig Iron Theatre Company and the University of the Arts' Ira Brind School of Theater Arts is poised to change the landscape of theater education. This new partnership will create the University of the Arts MFA in Pig Iron School's Devised Performance program and the University of the Arts Certificate in Pig Iron School's Devised Performance program. The program will be under the direction of Gabriel Quinn Bauriedel, co-founder of Pig Iron Theatre Company, within the UArts Ira Brind School of Theater Arts, led by Joanna Settle.

Playwrights Horizons announced today the promotion of the theater company's Director of New Play Development Adam Greenfield to Associate Artistic Director. This is the first major change to the Artistic leadership of the acclaimed organization since Mr. Sanford was promoted from the same associate position to become Artistic Director in 1996.
City Theater Company gets their Irish up for the 21st season, opening in December with a reimagined staging of James Joyce's The Dead. Richard Nelson won the Tony Award for Best Musical Book in 2000 for his adaptation of the short story that closes out Joyce's seminal collection The Dubliners. The music is by Shaun Davey, with lyrics conceived and adapted by Richard Nelson and Shaun Davey.
