Lyric Opera of Chicago announced today that audiences are now able to purchase single tickets to Lyric's premiere of the Broadway classic and new-to-Chicago production of 42nd Street.

Mark Bramble, the American theatre director, author and producer died yesterday (February 20, 2018) at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore following complications related to cardiovascular hypertension according to the physician on call. He was 68 years old. His passing was reported by his long-time business manager and friend, Richard Koenigsberg.

The Castillo Theatre (Dan Friedman, artistic director; John Rankin, associate managing director) has scheduled two talk backs in-conjunction with its current production of Fred Newman's Billie, Malcolm & Yusuf, directed by award-winning director, Gabrielle Kurlander. The Castillo Theatre (Dan Friedman, artistic director; John Rankin, associate managing director) is proud to announce that it will produce a revival of the 1991 play by Fred Newman, Billie, Malcolm & Yusuf, to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Yusuf Hawkins' murder in 1989.  Billie, Malcolm & Yusuf will be directed by award-winning director, Gabrielle Kurlander.  The production includes blues and rap music. Chase Brock, the contemporary choreographer behind the Broadway-bound production Be More Chill and the Artistic Director of Brooklyn-based dance company The Chase Brock Experience, announced today that the company will hold its annual gala following a special performance of The Girl with the Alkaline Eyes on Monday, January 7 at 7:00pm. This year's gala will honor Denise Roberts Hurlin, the Founding Director of Dancers Responding to AIDS (a program of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS), a member of the CBE Advisory Board, and a former company member of Paul Taylor Dance Company.

Commonwealth Shakespeare Company and Founding Artistic Director Steven Maler announced the cast of the second production of its 2018-19 Season: Birdy, adapted by Naomi Wallace from the novel by William Wharton, and directed by Steven Maler. The production runs February 27 through March 10 at the Carling-Sorenson Theater at Babson College in Wellesley.

Theatre Bay Area, the third-largest regional theatre service organization in North America, announced the finalists for the 2018 TBA Awards. The fifth annual TBA Awards Celebration will be held on Monday, Nov. 5 at the Herbst Theatre (401 Van Ness Avenue, San Francisco). Previewed last night at a private event at the New York Public Library, The Maurice Sendak Foundation announced that it has commissioned the first major and only full-length stage play adaptation of Where the Wild Things Are. This stage adaptation follows a 1984 opera and 2009 film based on the classic children's story. The New Victory Theater (a project of The New 42nd Street), New York City's premier performing arts nonprofit entirely devoted to kids and families, has committed to produce the play, marking its first foray into original production. The creative team for the production is in formation and will be announced at a later date.
