BWW Review: FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, Flateby Samfunnshus - Fiddler in the Woods
by Christian Ranke - Aug 17, 2021
There is nothing amateurish about Enebakk Musikkteater's open-air production of 'Fiddler on the Roof' by Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick. While some may lack experience in performing, as an ensemble they present a wholesome end-result, with a scenery that is to die for. This review is based on last year’s run. It will re-open next week.
TEVYE SERVED RAW To Be Performed At Centenary Stage Company
by A.A. Cristi - Oct 20, 2020
Find out what happens to the beloved characters in Fiddler on the Roof after the musical ends. TEVYE SERVED RAW is an evening of Sholem Aleichem material, with adaptations of his Tevye stories (“What, Me Worthy?” and “Get Thee Gone!”), scenes from his own long-unseen Yiddish stage version, and three of his purely comedic stories, newly adapted (“Strange Jews on a Train,” “The Yiddish Sisyphus” and “A Stepmother’s Trash-Talk”).
BWW Review: FIDDLER ON THE ROOF at Proctors Maintains its Delicate Balance.
by Marc Savitt - Feb 20, 2020
I want to state clearly this a very good production with a large group of talented professionals. Notable performances include Yehezkel Lazarov as Tevye and Ms. Murphy, Froch, and Barenblat as his daughters, Tzeitel, Hodel, and Chava respectively. The choreography originally by Jerome Robbins, recreated by Christopher Evans, with new choreography by Hofesh Schecter is also noteworthy. Overall, however, I felt the production did not quite reach its potential. While this is not a re-imagined Fiddler, there are infusions of some new elements that for me, just didn't work.

BWW Review: FIDDLER ON THE ROOF at Providence Performing Arts Center. Don't Miss It!
by Larry O'Brien - Feb 12, 2020
There are times when being a theater reviewer is a fabulous gig. Last night at the Providence Performing Arts Center was one of those times. FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, running through Sunday at PPAC is not to be missed. It is warm, funny, sad, uplifting, and helps us see the world from the vantage point of the oppressed-it is gorgeous. First, let's give credit to FIDDLER'S creators: Jerry Bock wrote the music, Sheldon Harnick the lyrics, and Joseph Stein the book. Bock and Harnick had previously collaborated on the Tony and Pulitzer Prize winner Fiorello; Stein had been part of the writing team along with Woody Allen, Mel Brooks, Carl Reiner and Neil Simon on television's Your Show on Shows-these were some talented guys. The original Broadway production of the show, which opened in 1964, had the first musical theatre run in history to surpass 3,000 performances. It held the record for the longest running Broadway musical for almost ten years. The production was extraordinarily profitable and highly acclaimed. It won nine Tony awards, including best musical, score, book, direction and choreography. It spawned five Broadway revivals and a highly successful film adaptation and has enjoyed enduring international popularity.
BWW Review: FIDDLER ON THE ROOF at Morrison Center
by Jessa moore - Jan 9, 2020
Family, tradition, and community, are three words used to describe the incredible production of Fiddler On The Roof that stopped by the Morrison Center. Fiddler on the Roof follows the story of Tevye, a poor milkman and his family as they work through the traditions of their people. Tevye struggles to decide which is more important, his family or his devotion to God. Despite the things that enter the path, From weddings being destroyed to a daughter leaving home. It seems each event that happens, pulls Tevye further and further from his breaking point. Though he communicates often with the audience and God through one-liners, we see him slowly being torn more and more. He soon learns to try to keep a balance between God, and the changing world can be compared to a fiddler on a roof.
