The hit Chicago musical set against the backdrop of the Chicago Cubs 2016 championship season, MIRACLE, is announcing its final weeks, closing on Sunday, September 29. In its successful five month run, the musical was seen by over 30,000 people including Chicago Cubs players David Ross, Willson Contreras, Kerry Wood, Ryan Dempster and Ryne Sandberg, as well as numerous local celebrities including Jim Belushi, Allison Victoria of HGTV, Wayne Messmer, Tom Ricketts, Tom Dreesen and many more who lauded the production. Today, William Marovitz and Arny Granat, co-producers of the production, are thrilled to announce that MIRACLE has been nominated for a 2019 Equity Jeff Award in the a?oeNew Work- Musicala?? category. Now playing at the Royal George Theatre, 1641 North Halsted, MIRACLE is providing Chicago Cubs fans and theatregoers a final opportunity to relive the Chicago Cubs 2016 World Series win.

Prolific playwright David Edgar is directed in his professional performance debut by triple Fringe First Award-winner Christopher Haydon in a solo show considering the legacy of the events of 1968. In 1968, playwright David Edgar was 20 years old. It was also the year of some of the most important and formative events in modern history, including the Paris student revolt, the assassination of Martin Luther King, Enoch Powell's a?oerivers of blooda?? speech, and the ongoing war in Vietnam. Trying It On is a new play written and performed by David Edgar, which reflects on the legacy of this momentous year, drawing on first-person interviews with some of the leading political figures of the time, as well as contemporary activists. The performance also marks David's first professional stage performance in this autobiographical one-man play.

Hackney Empire has announced further casting for Dick Whittington and his Cat and reveal the first cast images of its sparkling new adaptation as it gears up for panto season! Tarinn Callender, who made his West End debut with the original London cast of Hamilton playing Hercules Mulligan and James Madison, will mark his first Hackney panto in the title role of Dick Whittington. The production will also welcome debut panto appearances from Annette McLaughlin (Harry Potter and The Cursed Child) as Queen Rat, Christina Tedders (Once The Musical) as Alice Fitzwarren and Sue Kelvin (Caroline, Or Change) as Fairy Bowbells. As previously announced, they will star alongside Hackney stalwarts Grand Dame Clive Rowe who marks a 13th panto appearance, this year starring as Sarah the Cook, the loveable Kat B as Vincent the Cat and the ever trusty Tony Whittle as Alderman Fitzwarren.
