The Wallis presents the Los Angeles premiere of Wise Children’s Wuthering Heights, opening January 11, 2023. Emma Rice directs her own adaptation of Emily Bronte’s classic. This engagement is a National Theatre, Wise Children, Bristol Old Vic and York Theatre Royal Co-Production in Association with Berkeley Repertory Theatre. I had the opportunity to query Sam Archer, one of Wise Children’s leading players, on his history with Emma Rice, as well as with Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures.

Diversionary Theatre has announced the cast and creative team for its production of The Mystery of Irma Vep by Charles Ludlam, co-directed by Diversionary Executive Artistic Director Matt M. Morrow and Allison Spratt Pearce. The Mystery of Irma Vep will run December 1 - December 24 at Diversionary Theatre in University Heights. 

The Tony Award-winning Alley Theatre has announced the cast and creative team of Isaac Gómez’s world premiere What-A-Christmas! The play is directed by KJ Sanchez (Quixote Nuevo) and runs December 2 – December 24, 2022 in the Neuhaus Theatre.

Part gig, part piano lesson, part journey through Empire, Elephant, a powerful new play from singer, songwriter, actress, and composer Anoushka Lucas who was recently celebrated in the role of Laurey in Oklahoma! at the Young Vic, opens at the Bush Theatre on 24 October (press night 25 October).  A Bush commission, Elephant first appeared as part of the Bush's Protest series of videos in 2020, a response to the murder of George Floyd.  

Berkeley Repertory Theatre has announced the full cast and creative team for the West Coast premiere of Emma Rice’s critically acclaimed Wuthering Heights, a reimagined version of Emily Brontë’s gothic masterpiece. Performances begin Friday, November 18 and continue through Sunday, January 1, 2023.

New Music Theatre Project (Chris Dieman, Artistic Director) announces their 2022 commissions: a new musical by Andrew Porter and a new instrumental piece by Ariana Bell. Both world premieres will take place December 16th, 2022 at The National Opera Center in New York.

The autobiographical play about growing up in 1980’s Zimbabwe following independence opens at Brixton House on 17 February, with previews from 15 February, and runs until 6 March. It then tours to Scarborough, Oundle and Oxford before concluding in Edinburgh, 23 - 26 March 2022.

These will be in addition to the four upcoming shows that are currently on sale: Grammy Award-winning musician Chris Thile (Nov. 12), new gods of Irish music Lúnasa (Dec. 11), international sensation STOMP (Feb 1-6), and classical pop mashup masters The Piano Guys (May 14). All shows will be at the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts.
