SISTER ACT features an original score with music by multi-Academy, Grammy and Golden Globe Award-winning composer Alan Menken (Little Shop of Horrors, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid and Enchanted), lyrics by Tony and Academy Award-nominee Glenn Slater (The Little Mermaid), and a book by multi-Emmy Award winners Cheri and Bill Steinkellner ('Cheers') with additional book material by Tony and Olivier Award nominee Douglas Carter Beane (Xanadu, The Little Dog Laughed).

President Barack Obama was in New York City yesterday to begin fundraising for his 2012 re-election campaign. As part of the visit, he invited potential endorsers to a performance of SISTER ACT as part of an event hosted by producer Whoopi Goldberg. Tickets for the special performance and evening event ranged from $250 to $10,000 (the latter of which includes a photo shoot with the President). As previously reported, President Barack Obama has chosen SISTER ACT for his first Broadway fundraiser of his re-elction campaign. The event, which will be held today, will be hosted by SISTER ACT producer Whoopi Goldberg. Tickets for the special performance range from $250 to $10,000 (the latter of which includes a photo shoot with the President). Also while in town, Obama will host a second fundraiser with the gay community. Justin Bieber will also be in town for promotional appearances, further adding to the expected traffic gridlock in midtown today.

Clark won the 2005 Tony Award for Best Leading Actress in a Musical in 2005 for her performance in The Light in the Piazza. She also won the Drama Desk Award, Outer Critics Circle Award, and the Joseph Jefferson Award for her performance in the role. Below, we bring you Patina Miller, Best Lead Actress in a Musical nominee for Sister Act. Miller is best known for originating the role of the disco diva wannabe Deloris Van Cartier in the 2009 West End run, which she has now transferred to Broadway. She performed in a Central Park production of Hair in the summer of 2008 and was featured in the musical Romantic Poetry at the Manhattan Theatre Club that fall. In 2007, she was cast in All My Children and appeared in 30 episodes of the daytime soap opera.

Unless the names 'Noel' and 'Coward' are involved, I tend to be a bit wary about musicals with the book, music, lyrics and direction all by the same person, but Willard Beckham makes a very entertaining go of it with his campy, country/western musical comedy, Lucky Guy.

Producers Whoopi Goldberg and Stage Entertainment have announced that the Tony-nominated Broadway musical SISTER ACT will launch a North American tour at Toronto's Canon Theatre in the fall of 2012. Additional cities, dates and casting will be announced at a later date. The North American tour of SISTER ACT will be booked by The Road Company.

Below, we bring you Whoopi Goldberg, Producer of the Sister Act, the recipient of 5 Tony nomintions including Mest Musical. Goldberg starred in the original film of Sister Act, and has appeared on Broadway herself in Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, Xanadu, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, and two self-titled solo shows.
