Lifeline Theatre Artistic Director Dorothy Milne and the artistic ensemble announce their 2010-2011, 28th anniversary season of presenting Big Stories, Up Close. In its award-winning and audience-acclaimed style, Lifeline's 2010-2011 season will feature six popular books onstage, all productions adapted by Lifeline ensemble members. The season will feature sprawling, legendary stories as well as stirring, contemporary titles, as Lifeline retains its reputation for fresh, imaginative interpretations of well-loved classics and embraces the challenge and excitement of modern, thought-provoking works.

Philadelphia Theatre Company spells F-U-N when it opens its 35th Anniversary mainstage season with the multiple Tony Award winner The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee with music and lyrics by William Finn, book by Rachel Sheinkin, and conceived by Rebecca Feldman, running November 12-December 12 at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre (Broad and Lombard Streets).

DreamWorks Theatricals and Broadway Across America today announced that they have partnered to launch 'MADAGASCAR LIVE,' DreamWorks Theatricals' first-ever live family touring show. The production is expected to visit over 70 cities across the United States beginning in January 2011. The brand new stage show aimed at family audiences stars the cast of popular characters from the beloved 'Madagascar' film series, including Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe, Gloria the Hippo and members of the madcap Madagascar crew, King Julien and the crafty Penguins.

Celebrating the 10th anniversary of the original children's book by Doreen Cronin and Betsy Lewin, Lifeline Theatre's KidSeries presents a remount of their smash hit musical adaptation of Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type. The production is adapted by ensemble member James E. Grote, music and lyrics by George Howe, and directed by ensemble member Shole Milos; the same team that created Lifeline's popular adaptations of the beloved Cronin/Lewin books, Giggle, Giggle, Quack (2005); Duck for President (2008); and Dooby Dooby Moo (2009). Since premiering at Lifeline Theatre in 2003, Grote and Howe's adaptation of Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type has been produced by sixteen theatre companies in ten different states and provinces across the United States and Canada, and Lifeline Theatre is thrilled to share this delightful musical with a new generation of KidSeries audience.

Westport Country Playhouse will present 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Other Eric Carle Favorites' as part of its Family Festivities Series on Sunday, February 13, at 1 and 4 p.m. Recommended for ages 3 to 8, the production features three stories by award-winning children's book illustrator and writer Eric Carle told with puppets, original music and in black light. Beginning with the 2011 season's first Family Festivities show, 'The Commedia Princess and the Pea,' on Sunday, January 16, 1 and 4 p.m., the Playhouse will collect gently used and new children's books which will be given to families and programs in the greater Fairfield County area through the Read to Grow organization. Bins will be located in the Playhouse lobby for book donations.
