During the Covid-19 pandemic, The Negro Ensemble Company, Inc. (NEC) has been developing 'Lambs to Slaughter' by Khalil Kain, a new play with poetry and music, under the direction of Reginald L. Douglas. Khalil Kain is an urban icon who is renowned for his performances in the 1992 crime thriller 'Juice,' the UPN/CW sitcom 'Girlfriends' (2001-2008) and the title role in the Showtime biopic 'The Tiger Woods Story.'

Theater for the New City Will Present Donald E. Lacy Jr. in COLORSTRUCK

From February 27 to March 15, Theater for the New City (TNC) will present comedian/actor/broadcaster Donald E. Lacy Jr. updating his one man show, 'ColorStruck,' a bittersweet examination of how cultural assumptions drive American society. Since national politics provide a never-ending supply of new material, the piece is continually reshaped. The velocity of change since TNC presented the show's New York debut last year (Feb-March, 2019) has inspired Lacy to initiate a new version that reflects pressing current events.

Her current work as the Winter Artist in Residence at Urban Movement Arts considers the erotic as the aliveness in the space between people. Lilli is thinking about how loss and eroticism can both be powerful, painful, or pleasurable all at once. Asked about her work, Lilli cites the writing of David Whyte and bell hooks who propose love that can carry grief; that the erotic can contain the celebration and the grief of life together as one.
