Apothetae Theater's THE PENALTY to Premiere at Dixon Place, 6/14-16

Dixon Place and The Apothetae Theater present the world premiere musical of Clay McLeod Chapman's The Penalty for 6 weekend performances only beginning June 14 at 7:30. With music by Nature City of Oklahoma's Robert M. Johanson (Life and Times) and direction by Kris Thor (Blackout, Diving Normal), this production brings together a dream team of rising talent currently experiencing significant milestones in their respective careers. The Penalty is also the debut production of The Apothetae theater, a New York based company founded by and for actors and theater professionals with physical disabilities.

American Idol star, Clay Aiken, returns to the stage as 'Man in Chair' in North Carolina Theatre's production of THE DROWSY CHAPERONE along with Tony-Award winner, Beth Leavel, who will be reprising her role as 'The Chaperone.' The show opens tonight, May 7 and runs through May 12 at the Raleigh Memorial Auditorium at the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts.

St. Ann's Warehouse welcomes back Kneehigh and director Emma Rice for the New York premiere of The Wild Bride. In this adaptation of the Brothers Grimm fairy tale 'The Girl Without Hands,' narrated by Satan himself, a father accidentally sells his daughter to the Devil. When our heroine cleverly escapes, a lyrical love story laced with devilish humor unfolds. The production features a bluegrass score by longtime Kneehigh composer Stu Barker, performed by live musicians and the cast.
