Captain Louie - 2005 - Off-Broadway History , Info & More

Captain Louie is a family musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Anthony Stein adapted from the children's book The Trip by Ezra Jack Keats. The musical premiered in the late 1980s and then played Off-Broadway in 2005. Since then, it has had a U.S. tour and other productions.



Captain Louie is a one-act musical that takes place in present day New York City and focuses on a brave little boy, Louie. Poor Louie has just moved to a new neighborhood, away from his friends. On Halloween Night, using only his imagination and favorite toy plane, Louie manages to return to his old neighborhood and find all his old friends. After a series of adventures, Louie finally returns back to his new neighborhood dressed as œCaptain Louie in his red plane. Now dressed in his super cool costume, Louie becomes a neighborhood star!

Donmar Celebrates 2010 with Sondheim, Mendes, Roger; Full Season Announced

Artistic Director of the internationally acclaimed Donmar Warehouse, Michael Grandage, today announced new details surrounding the new Donmar season through until February 2011 including. Casting has been announced for Polar Bears; David Leveaux has been pronounced director of Simon Gray's The Late Middle Class; von Kleist's The Prince of Homburg has been added to the season; new events in celebration of Sondheim's 80th birthday - in addition to the production of Passion - have been revealed; and Michael Grandage has been confirmed to direct Derek Jacobi in King Lear.

A 'W-I-N-N-E-R' (Sarasota Magazine) with audiences and critics alike, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, is a hilarious musical comedy of six young people in the throes of puberty and are overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves. Together they learn that winning isn't everything and that losing doesn't necessarily make you a loser. The 2005 Tony Award-Winner for Best Book of a Musical, it played for over 1,000 performances on Broadway and continued to have success across the nation in both touring and regional performances.
