Captain Louie is a family musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Anthony Stein adapted from the children's book The Trip by Ezra Jack Keats. The musical premiered in the late 1980s and then played Off-Broadway in 2005. Since then, it has had a U.S. tour and other productions.
Captain Louie is a one-act musical that takes place in present day New York City and focuses on a brave little boy, Louie. Poor Louie has just moved to a new neighborhood, away from his friends. On Halloween Night, using only his imagination and favorite toy plane, Louie manages to return to his old neighborhood and find all his old friends. After a series of adventures, Louie finally returns back to his new neighborhood dressed as œCaptain Louie in his red plane. Now dressed in his super cool costume, Louie becomes a neighborhood star!
