Cast Named For Immersive Production Of RIME OF THE ANCIENT MARINER

Word for Word and Z Space will stage an immersive production of Samuel Taylor Coleridge's legendary Rime of the Ancient Mariner  with a press night of Saturday September 21 at 8pm running through October 12 (Previews Sept 11-15, 18-20) .   Rime of the Ancient Mariner is to be directed by Jim Cave and Delia MacDougall with a cast that features Nathaniel Andalis, Lucas Brandt, Robert Ernst*, Darryl V. Jones, Leontyne Mbele-Mbong*, Earl Paus, Charles Shaw Robinson and Patricia Silver*. (*member AEA)

The Starting Line Announces 'EST: 1999 Music + Stories' Tour

Philadelphia-bred rock band The Starting Line have announced EST: 1999 Music + Stories, the band's summer, fall and winter tour celebrating its 20th anniversary. Visiting a number of markets the band hasn't performed in since 2008, the upcoming run will feature full live shows with sets spanning the band's entire catalog, along with storytelling detailing the band's history and narratives behind the songs. The band will visit markets such as Los Angeles, CA on July 20, Cleveland, OH on September 13, Denver, CO on November 15, Dallas, TX on November 16 and more. 

Strings & Suds Festival Brings Roots Music To Black Mountain This August

Organizers of Jam In The Trees, The Pisgah Brewing Outdoor Stage Series, and HoosierDevil are proud to announce Strings & Suds, a two-day music event held at Pisgah Brewing Company's legendary taproom and outdoor stage on August 23rd and 24th, 2019. The first-annual Strings & Suds, which derives its name from a former Pisgah Brewing event held in 2013, will feature Tex-Mex troubadours The Mavericks, roots music mainstays Donna the Buffalo, double-neck guitar slinger Junior Brown, the King of Americana himself, Jim Lauderdale, and mandolin-wielding songstress Sierra Hull. Additionally, Strings & Suds will featureFrank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen, YARN, Sarah Shook & the Disarmers, Danny Burns, East of Monroe, and Ashley Heath and Her Heathens. Fans should be sure to expect special artist collaborations and sit-ins each night.

Following the success of last season's production of Peter Eotvos's Angels in America, New York City Opera presents Charles Wuorinen's Brokeback Mountain as the second installment in its annual LGBT Pride Series. Annie Proulx, author of the original short story that also inspired the 2005 blockbuster film, created the opera's libretto. Jacopo Spirei directs the production which premiered in 2016 at Salzburger Landestheater. Conductor Kazem Abdullah leads the New York City Opera Orchestra. The production marks the American premiere of the opera which was commissioned by City Opera in 2008. Four performances of Brokeback Mountain will be presented at the Rose Theater at Jazz at Lincoln Center on May 31 and June 4 at 7:30 p.m., June 2 at 2:00 p.m., and June 3 at 4:00 p.m.

Hazy memories include a mountain of presents that engulfed the family grand piano, a pi ata filled with treasures but somehow, she got stuck with the yucky sesame candy, and most of all, a heavy sense of the day that couldn't yet be articulated by her child mind.
