San Francisco's 42nd Street Moon (Daren A.C. Carollo and Daniel Thomas, Co-Executive Directors), currently celebrating its 25thAnniversary in continuous operation, has announced the show titles for its upcoming 2018-2019 season. The 2018-2019 season will include THE BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS (October 3 - 21, 2018), DAMES AT SEA (November 28 - December 16, 2018), FIORELLO! (February 27 - March 17, 2019), 110 IN THE SHADE(April 24 - May 12, 2019), ONCE (June 12 - 30, 2019) and THE OLDEST LIVING CATER WAITER (performances begin June 23, 2019).

Honorary Chair for the event is Tony Award-nominated actor/singer and 2016 Rosie Award-winner Norm Lewis. Two-time Tony Award-nominee Brad Oscar will be Master of Ceremonies for the evening.

Rehearsals begin today for The 5th Avenue Theatre's new production of Mamma Mia!, the celebrated musical that features the music of global pop sensation ABBA. The 5th Avenue Theatre is the first producing theater company in the Pacific Northwest to be granted the rights to create its own refreshed version of the show, which toured the world for nearly 20 years.

Five choreographers, Artis Smith, Germaine Salsberg, Kevin Predmore, Traci Stanfield and Nicole Ohr, will collaborate with current and graduated Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music composers for a program of new contemporary, modern, and tap dances, performed by 25+ dancers, each dance set to an original composition by a different composer - Yuriy Lehki, Daniel Rote, Jacob Szilagi, and Sean Vigneau-Britt. The program will also feature repertory from Smith and Salsberg ('Full Moon Waxing' and 'Down the Rabbit Hole'). The two 2 performances, Saturday December 2nd at the Brooklyn Music School, is a presentation of Artis Smith and Germaine Salsberg, artistic directors, and The Department of Kinesiology and Conservatory of Music at Brooklyn College.

DAMES AT SEA is a welcome escape from the upheaval of the moment, if only for a couple of hours. The six-member cast shines with an abundance of smiles, vocal belts, and tap routines that they make look easy. Ephie Aardema, who has previously made a few splashes on this stage (HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS, THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE, 42ND STREET), is back after a stint on Broadway to play Ruby, that starstruck girl based on the lead character in 42ND STREET. The McCallum Theatre presents Bernadette Peters, with Musical Director Marvin Laird, on Saturday, February 4, at 8:00pm. Tony Award-winning actress Bernadette Peters dazzles audiences and critics with her performances on stage and television, in concert and in movies, and on recordings. Bernadette currently stars in Amazon Prime's Golden Globe nominated series, "Mozart in the Jungle." Recent stage credits include City Center's Encores! Production A Bed A Chair: A New York Love Affair. Prior to that, she starred on Broadway in the Stephen Sondheim/James Goldman production of Follies, following a successful run at the Kennedy Center. She also starred opposite Elaine Stritch in A Little Night Music.

It's that time of year, and I can't help but wonder if your CD collection and iPod are Tonys ready. It's just a handful of hours until the 70th annual Tony Awards, and New York City and theatre fans across the world are excitedly buzzing about this year's ceremonies which will be broadcast live on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at 8/7c on CBS. This Broadway season has some exciting contenders in the musical categories, and to get you ready for the big night, I'm recapping the albums you should be listening to (or at least pre-ordering).

Robert (Bob) Dahdah, a prolific writer and director who was a major contributor to the creation of Off-Off Broadway theater in the 1960s and continued writing and directing for over fifty years, died on February 6th at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx, where he was under hospice care. He was 89.

The first ever Broadway production of DAMES AT SEA will play its 100th performance on Broadway on Saturday, December 19th at 8pm.  In celebration of the critically acclaimed musical comedy set in 1933, tickets for the Saturday, December 19th 8pm performance will be $19.33.  You can purchase the specially priced $19.33 tickets only at the Helen Hayes Theatre box office on Saturday, December 19th from 10am till 8pm for that evening's performance.  Customers may purchase up to 8 tickets per person and should reference the code Dames 1933 or 100th Performance.

The first ever Broadway production of DAMES AT SEA will receive the honor of being filmed for the Theatre on Film and Tape Archive for the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center. The filming will take place during the Tuesday, December 15 performance.
