Disney Theatrical Productions will hold open auditions for its current and future productions of the award-winning musicals Aladdin, Frozen and The Lion King in cities across North America this winter. Casting representatives from all three productions will hold open auditions for local performers in Chicago November 9-11, 2018 at Hubbard Street Dance Chicago; Honolulu January 19, 2019 (location TBA); and Los Angeles February 15-17, 2019 at Downtown Dance and Movement.

Overture Center for the Arts is seeking experienced musical theater choreographers, directors, musical directors, actors, producers and theater education staff to train as teaching artists for Disney Musicals in Schools.  The program, currently running at nine Madison Metropolitan School District elementary schools is designed to create sustainable theater programs in elementary schools for students in grades three-five. Through the program, participating schools produce a Disney KIDS musical in their school community and join in a culminating performance at Overture.

Adventure Theatre MTC (ATMTC), recent recipient of a Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Play or Musical Adaptation, brings to the stage the world premiere musical, Blueberries for Sal, written by Washington, D.C. Helen Hayes Nominated playwrights Michael J. Bobbitt and Sandra Eskin and featuring new music and lyrics by William Yanesh (Caps for Sale, Winnie the Pooh). Celebrating the 70th anniversary of the book by Robert McCloskey, this female helmed musical is recommended for all ages and closes October 28, 2018.

The program is an initiative developed by Disney Theatrical Productions to create sustainable theater programs in under-resourced elementary schools. The five schools are a part of  Oklahoma City Public Schools. The five schools include: Adelaide Lee, Hawthorne, John Rex, Pierce, and Willow Brook elementaries.

Adventure Theatre MTC (ATMTC), recent recipient of the Weissberg Foundation's 2016-2019 Fund for Diversity in Theater to engage and expand new voices and audiences in DC-area theatres, announces its commitment to a goal of 50% people of color representation (artists, designers and technicians) in its professional theatre season to better reflect the diversity of our audiences and community. This commitment is part of its EDI initiatives which includes a new Fellowship program for Assistant Directors who are people of color and working with a consensus organizer on its production of Huckleberry Finn's Big River. Recognizing a need in the industry for equity and diversity and to reflect the highly diverse DC and Montgomery County area, Adventure Theatre MTC has already upheld this commitment with its current production of Blueberries for Sal cast and creative team.

Let's face it, aren't you all still singing 'Let it Go' from Frozen even though the film is now five years old? Now in its 2nd year, Goodman Theatre selects five Chicagoland elementary schools to participate in the "Disney Musicals in Schools" program--an outreach initiative developed by Disney Theatrical Productions to create sustainable musical theater programs in under-resourced elementary schools. The selected schools include John C. Haines Elementary School (China Town) performing Aladdin KIDS; Jonathan Y. Scammon Elementary School (Logan Square) performing The Lion King KIDS; Richard Yates Elementary School (Humboldt Park) performing Aladdin KIDS; Belmont-Cragin Elementary School (Belmont Cragin) performing The Lion King KIDS; and Gerald Delgado Kanoon Magnet Elementary School (Little Village) performing Aladdin KIDS. Coordinated by Goodman Theatre artists Adrian Azevedo and Anna Gelman, under the leadership of Walter Director of Education and Engagement Willa J. Taylor, the five area public elementary schools received performance rights to a Disney KIDS musical of their choice, at no cost.
