The Public Theater announced complete casting today for HAMLET, featuring Golden Globe Award winner Oscar Isaac as the tormented Danish Prince. Directed by Tony Award winner Sam Gold, HAMLET will begin previews on Tuesday, June 20 and run through Sunday, September 3 in the Anspacher Theater, with an official press opening on Thursday, July 13.

Acclaimed Off-Broadway theater company Playwrights Horizons will hold its annual Spring Gala on Monday evening, May 8, at the event space 583 Park Avenue. Titled A CELEBRATION OF SONG, the evening will honor three of the company's exceptional alumni writers: Tony Award nominee Scott Frankel (Grey Gardens and Far From Heaven at Playwrights), Tony Award nominee Michael Korie (Grey Gardens and Far From Heaven at Playwrights) and Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner Doug Wright (I Am My Own Wife and Grey Gardens at Playwrights). The Grey Gardens writing team has returned to Broadway with their new musical, War Paint, now playing at The Nederlander Theatre.

LCT3/Lincoln Center Theater will open its 2017-2018 season with AFTER THE BLAST, a new play by Zoe Kazan, to be directed by Lila Neugebauer, beginning performances Saturday, October 7 and running for six weeks only through Sunday, November 19 at the Claire Tow Theater (150 West 65 Street). Opening night is Monday, October 23.

Michael Frayn's Copenhagen investigates the historical 1941 meeting of German physicist Werner Heisenberg and his Danish counterpart Niels Bohr as they contemplate the creation of the atom bomb. The National Philharmonic's 2016-2017 season at The Music Center at Strathmore continues on the Chinese New Year with Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 with Chinese gold medal pianist Haochen Zhang and Antonín Dvo?ák's Symphony No. 8 in G Major. Both will be led by Philharmonic Music Director and Conductor Piotr Gajewski. Zhang and Gajewski are both former child prodigies. Since his gold medal win at the 2009 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, the 26-year-old pianist has captivated audiences in the United States, Europe and Asia, with a unique combination of deep musical sensitivity, fearless imagination and spectacular virtuosity. The double performance will be held Today, January 28 at 8 pm. and Sunday, January 29 at 3 pm in the Concert Hall. There will be an audience question and answer session with Zhang and Gajewski after each performance. Ticket prices are $23-$78 and are free for children age 7-17. Playwrights Horizons (Artistic Director, Tim Sanford; Managing Director, Leslie Marcus) has announced that the score for their World Premiere production of the musical IOWA has been preserved as an Original Cast Recording, produced by Michael Croiter (Matilda, The Visit, Big Fish) and Todd Almond. IOWA is written by Jenny Schwartz (God's Ear, Somewhere Fun) with music by Todd Almond (Girlfriend) and lyrics by Ms. Schwartz and Mr. Almond.

No, that's not some forgotten Golden Age musical floating effervescently across the Broadhurst stage, but ANASTASIA sure has the old-fashioned romantic feel of one. The story of a young woman who may or may not be the presumed dead Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna of Russia has been told in many forms before - even as a short-lived 1965 Broadway musical called ANYA - but this new stage adaptation by Terrence McNally (book), Stephen Flaherty (music) and Lynn Ahrens (lyrics) is surely a welcome variation.
