Award-winning pioneer playwright Qui Nguyen brilliantly chronicles the love story of his parents' meeting in an Arkansas refugee center after fleeing Vietnam after the fall of Saigon in 1975. It's a buddy story, an all-American romance, and a motorcycle road-trip adventure that reexamines how we think about the heroes and victims of the Vietnam War. Vietgone skips through time and roams the globe with snarky humor, hip-hop, and lots of sex. It's one ironic, foul-mouthed, bad-ass new play.

New York's beloved Dance Theatre of Harlem, under the artistic direction of Virginia Johnson, returns to NY City Center for its annual homecoming season tonight, April 4, the 50th Anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., with the annual Vision Gala, honoring dance legend Carmen de Lavallade and civil rights icon Xernona Clayton.

Local actors Elaitheia Quinn and Barry Wright will star alongside the theater's resident ensemble cast members Megan Raitano and Allan Whitehead in David Auburn's 2000 drama Proof. Directed by Marco DiGeorge, Proof will play for a limited run from March 9-31, 2018 at the emerging Theater On The Edge.

Carnegie Hall's The '60s: The Years that Changed America, a citywide festival from January 14-March 24, 2018, concludes this month with a vast array of events presented at Carnegie Hall and at more than 35 leading partner cultural institutions throughout New York City. This special exploration of the '60s invites audiences to explore this turbulent decade through the lens of arts and culture, including music's role as a meaningful vehicle to inspire social change.

The Orchestra Now (T?N) will feature a prolific spring season offering no less than five concerts in New York City beginning on March 16, when associate conductor James Bagwell leads a FREE concert of works by Bizet, Part, and Virgil Thomson at The Great Hall at Cooper Union, part of the Orchestra's ever popular and family-friendly Around Town series. The concert will be repeated at Hudson Hall in Hudson, NY on March 18.

The program will present Shostakovich's Suite on Verses of Michelangelo in conjunction with the exhibition Michelangelo: Divine Draftsman and Designer, on view at The Met Fifth Avenue until February 12, 2018. As with all Sight & Sound concerts, on-screen artworks are staged in a lively discussion alongside musical excerpts performed by the Orchestra, followed by a full performance and audience Q & A.

Metropolitan Klezmer, hailed as one of the finest American klezmer bands (Songlines Magazine), brings its inspired, neo-traditional interpretations and compositions of eclectic Yiddish songs to Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, Feb. 3, at 8 p.m.
