Steely Dan announced today that the band will return to The Beacon Theatre stage for a nine-night residency of themed performances starting October 17, 2018.  The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers staged complete performances of several of their beloved classic albums from start to finish at The Beacon in 2008, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015, and 2016. Included among the highlights of this year's extraordinary concerts are: performances of Steely Dan's Countdown to Ecstasy (1973), The Royal Scam (1976), Aja (1977), Gaucho (1980), plusDonald Fagen's solo album The Nightfly (1982), plus “By Popular Demand” and “Greatest Hits” nights. Each and every night, Steely Dan will also treat audiences with selections from The Dan's extraordinary catalog, packed with infectious tunes, bodacious harmonies, irresistible grooves, blazing solo work, rich ensembles and sleek, subversive lyrics – see dates below.

For the first time in his 20+ year career as one of music's most in demand drummers, Fred Eltringham, steps away from the kit and up to the mic with his basement band, The Get You, and their debut album, Take Cover (The Noise Company). The Get You reimagines pre-existing songs with an edgy, lo-fi swagger. Eltringham curates the song selections by focusing on deep cuts over big hits, giving us an alternative appreciation of some of music's greatest writers. Basically, without even trying, Eltringham has created the coolest cover band ever.

 Hunter College President Jennifer J. Raab announced today the inaugural production of the Hunter Theater Project, the New York premiere of Anton Chekhov's UNCLE VANYA at the Frederick Loewe Theater at Hunter College (E. 68th Street and Lexington Avenue), directed by Richard Nelson. Translated byRichard Nelson, Richard Pevear, and Larissa Volokhonsky. This production is the first time renowned Russian literature translators Pevear and Volokhonsky will have a work premiere in New York City, following the show's world premiere at The Old Globe in San Diego, California. Previews for UNCLE VANYA begin Friday, September 7. The production runs through Sunday, October 14, with an official press opening on Sunday, September 16. Tickets are on sale now.

Today, the American Black Film Festival (ABFF) continues its 22-year legacy of providing a platform for diverse storytelling and emerging filmmakers, by announcing the 2018 official selections in all screening categories. The festival returns to Miami Beach, FL from June 13-17. 

Turner Classic Movies (TCM) will pay homage to the glittering world of Hollywood musicals with Mad About Musicals!, a special month of programming celebrating timeless movie musicals such as The Wizard of Oz, Singin' in the Rain and Cabaret. TCM is once again partnering with Ball State University and Canvas to offer a free online multimedia course tied to this programming special about the history of the musical genre and its evolution with cultural and technological shifts. The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) today proudly announced that Bill Hayes and Susan Seaforth Hayes, stars of television, film and stage and Sid and Marty Krofft, two legendary television producers, will be honored with Lifetime Achievement Awards this year during the Daytime Emmy® Awards.  The Krofft Brothers will be celebrated at the 45th Daytime Creative Arts Emmy® Awards which will take place on Friday, April 27th, 2018, while Bill Hayes and Susan Seaforth Hayes will be celebrated on Sunday, April 29th, 2018 at the 45th Daytime Emmy® Awards.  Both presentations will take place at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Southern California.

Doublewide is NNPN's 66th Rolling World Premiere.
