The holidays are a special time at The Nash as the renowned jazz club sprinkles a dash of holiday themed concerts throughout the month, bringing classic jazz and hot Latin sounds to warm up the holiday month. Highlights include the arrival of one of the most renowned samba bands, direct from New York City, Duduka da Fonseca Trio w/ Maucha Adnet on December 9th. Both Duduka and Maucha worked closely with the iconic Antonio Carlos Jobin, the King of Bossa Nova.

The San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM) today announces the appointment of Grammy Award-winning pianist Garrick Ohlsson to its faculty. Awarded an honorary doctorate from the Conservatory in 2016, Ohlsson joins current SFCM piano department faculty members Yoshikazu Nagai (Chair), Jon Nakamatsu, Paul Hersh, Sharon Mann, and Corey McVicar. Ohlsson will begin teaching a studio comprised of graduate students at SFCM in Fall 2018. He will also engage in piano department activities including forums, master classes, and recitals as well as interdepartmental collaborations. Ohlsson will be a featured performer at SFCM's Centennial Gala on March 19, 2018.

This October, Music Director Antonio Pappano makes his Carnegie Hall debut conducting the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in two concerts at Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage. On Friday, October 20 at 8:00 p.m., the Orchestra performs Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 3 in C Major, Op. 26 with Martha Argerich who returns to Carnegie Hall for the first time in nine years as well as the Sinfonia from Verdi's Aida and Resphigi's Fountains of Rome and Pines of Rome. A pre-concert talk begins at 7:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage with Alain Frogley, Professor of Music History at the University of Connecticut.
