Dallas Theater Center to Host Community Conversation About MILLER, MISSISSIPPI

Dallas Theater Center will host a curated conversation featuring insights into the world-premiere play Miller, Mississippi on Aug. 21 at the Beckley-Saner Recreation Center, located at 114 W Hobson Ave., Dallas, Texas 75224. In a moderated panel discussion, Diane and Hal Brierley Resident Acting Company members Alex Organ and Liz Mikel will discuss their experiences, and how they have informed their approach to the characters they portray in Miller, Mississippi. Moderated by Amber Sims, this conversation will address advantage and what happens 'when tradition is sacred, and change is slow'. A reception will begin at 6:30 p.m. with food donated by Babe's Chicken Dinner House, followed by the conversation at 7 p.m. This event is free and open to the public. (more...)

Renown actress of the screen and stage, Harriet Harris (Tony Award; Thoroughly Modern Millie; Bebe Glazer on the hit show, Frasier) joins Berkshire Theatre Group this summer in the classic Joseph Kesselring's play, Arsenic and Old Lace. A play that has gone down in history for its dark humor, Arsenic and Old Lace revolves around the crazy lives of the Brewster family. Harris plays one half of a dynamic sister duo, Abby Brewster, who believes that they are doing the population of lonely, old gentleman a service by offering them their arsenic-laced wine. These twisted acts of charity are just one example of the casual nature that the play presents when it comes to death and other taboo subjects that give audience members permission to laugh at its absurd nature. The Bug Theatre and Paper Cat Films have reunited once again for the biggest and best annual Halloween treat in Colorado. NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD…Live! On Stage! will be October 6 through 28, Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance and for students, seniors and military. Tickets at the door will be $18 general admission/$15 for anyone dressed like a zombie. A special group rate is also available for groups of 6 or more (in advance only) for just $14. Barrington Stage Company (recently voted Best of The Berkshires) set a new record at the opening night of Stephen Sondheim's COMPANY last night. There appeared to be more selfie photos attempted of Aaron Tveit the show's star and cast leaving the stage door of the Boyd-Quinson Mainstage than happen by the ever present throngs in Broadway's Shubert Alley a show. Aaron, who was Bobby in the extraordinary production directed by BSC's founder and artistic director Julianne Boyd, was mobbed by  what seemed like the entire audience asTveit and the cast tried exit the stage door and continue on to the after party at the home of BSC Chair, Minky and Bruno Quinson.  (more...)
