The coffeehouse meets the cabaret in "Poetry/Cabaret: CHILLY" at The Green Room 42. Come in from the cold, but prepare to be chilled by poems, songs, and stories about frosty receptions, tingles along the spine, and cool, smooth characters. Curated and hosted by Thomas March, author of the newly-released collection Aftermath, Poetry/Cabaret brings together poets and performers in an evening of wild variations on a theme. Joining us onstage to celebrate all things 'CHILLY' will be-poets Ryan Foster Casey, Cat Fitzpatrick, & Hafizah Geter; singers Lauren Elder, Daniel Nolen, & Stephanie Weeks; and comedians Alex English, Sophie Santos & Jes Tom-& with Scottie Hawley returning on piano.

The 32nd Israel Film Festival in Los Angeles, the largest showcase of Israeli films in the United States and taking place November 6th – 20th, will showcase two U.S. premieres, four West Coast premieres and seven Los Angeles premieres of documentary films. A stage icon and legend best known for her starring roles in Cole Porter's Kiss Me Kate and The King & I opposite Yul Brynner, she established an indelible mark in films with a reputation as a the villainous femme fatale with large blue eyes and extremely long, dark hair that made her a favorite of studios and fans alike.

It was a scandalous hit in both London and New York. In THE GREEN BAY TREE, an infamous comedy of manipulation, a charming young man is forced to choose between the love of his fiancee, the lifestyle of his male mentor, and the prescription of his upbringing.

The Center for Ballet and the Arts at New York University (CBA), the first international institute devoted to the creation and academic study of ballet, today announced the 27 artists and scholars who will serve as CBA Fellows in the 2018-19 academic year. Mixed Magic Theatre (MMT)  is  thrilled  to present  Pell  Award  Winner   Ricardo  Pitts-Wiley's  adaptation of 'Sweat' and 'The Gilded Six Bits', two  short stories by   Zora Neale Hurston, the celebrated  author  of 'Their  Eyes  Were   Watching  God '. Raised in Eatonville, Florida the first all black town to incorporate in the United States, Hurston's first love was  African  American  folklore. She  was an American  folklorist, anthropologist ,novelist,   ethnographer, and  short story writer . 

It was just announced by Pulitzer Prize Administrator Dana Canedy that Martyna Majok's COST OF LIVING has officially won the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

The Lyric Stage Company continues to meander through the works of Stephen Sondheim with ROAD SHOW, his most recent collaboration with librettist John Weidman. While not in the upper echelon of Sondheim's works, the score and the Lyric production make it worthwhile. This musical travelogue about the Mizner Brothers, a pair of entrepreneurs and con men who sought their fortunes in escapades from Alaska to New York to Florida in the early 20th century, is the story of their successes, failures, and the art of the deal, fitting right in with our American zeitgeist.

The NY Dance and Performance Awards, The Bessies, New York City's premier dance awards honoring outstanding creative work in the field, announced the complete list of the 2017 award recipients tonight at the 33rd annual Bessie Awards ceremony. Awards were presented in the categories of Outstanding Production, Outstanding Revival, Outstanding Performer, Outstanding Music Composition/Sound Design, and Outstanding Visual Design, with additional awards presented for Lifetime Achievement in Dance and Outstanding Service to the Field of Dance. Orchestra of St. Luke's returns to Carnegie Hall for three concerts in the fall including its annual subscription series presented by Carnegie Hall, opening on October 12 with Conductor Laureate Pablo Heras-Casado on the podium. He leads Beethoven's Symphony No. 1 in C Major, Op. 21, and Mozart's Mass in C Minor, K. 427 ('Great'), featuring the Westminster Symphonic Choir, and guest vocalists sopranos Camilla Tilling and Susanna Phillips, tenor Thomas Cooley, and bass-baritone Michael Sumuel.

Each person is costumed to perfectly represent the characters being portrayed, making each presentation a wonder of creativity and awe.
