London Classic Theatre today announce additional dates for their production of No l Coward's comedy masterpiece, Private Lives. Olivia Beardsley and Helen Keeley return to the production as Sibyl Chase and Amanda Prynne, and are joined by two new cast members, Gareth Bennett-Ryan (Elyot Chase) and Paul Sandys (Victor Prynne). The production tours to 16 venues in the new year, opening at Yvonne Arnaud, Guildford on 16 January, and concluding the run at the Coventry Belgrade Theatre on 21 April.

THE RESISTIBLE RISE OF ARTURO UI is a 1941 play by German playwright Bertolt Brecht. Using satire, it tells of the rise of Arturo Ui, a ruthless fictional 1930's Chicago mobster and his takeover of 'the cauliflower racket' by disposing of all who oppose him. It is meant to be an allegory on the rise to power of Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party in Germany. The play was written in Helsinki, Finland while Brecht was awaiting entry into the United States after fleeing Germany and was not produced on the stage until 1958. It would be 1961 before it was produced in English. Brecht intended all along that the play was to be produced for the American stage. The play is often compared to the film The Great Dictator (1940), which also featured an absurd parody of Hitler.

Written by Paul Nugent, it tells a fictionalized account, based on true events, of the Christmas Eve 1938 night where, in CBS Radio Studio 1, the young radio superstar Orson Welles and his Mercury Theatre on the Air are set to perform their eagerly awaited weekly 60-minute version of a classic; tonight it's “A Christmas Carol.” Only things aren't too Christmassy: it's ten minutes to ON-AIR and legendary Scrooge Lionel Barrymore has fallen sick, and now 23-year-old Orson has to step into his shoes; plus the script still isn't right, Orson's on the rampage, his cast are revolting after three days of rehearsing without sleep, and the pressure's on after the success of “War of the Worlds”: the Nation awaits and Hollywood's watching!
