The music is hot and the jive is jumpin’ all summer long at the Ivoryton Playhouse! On June 30th, the doors will open to the glorious sounds of the 50s and 60s with SMOKEY JOE'S CAFE: The Songs of Leiber and Stoller.

The show tells the story of four young musical theater students who dream of stardom. Bringing themes such as racism, fatphobia and social prejudice, the saga of the protagonists takes place in the fight against unattainable standards and profiles imposed by the musical theater industry. After years of having their dreams explored and frustrated, they decide to travel to New York to try their big break and maybe fix Broadway!

After a long hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Digital Press Highlight Award (DID) resumed its activities in honor and recognition of the great highlights of Brazilian musical theater in the city of Sao Paulo. It connected stars, chorus members and orchestral musicians in an “At-Home Gala”--a combination fund-raiser for the Met with wonderful entertainment. And the technology worked!
