Grammy and ECHO Klassik Award-winning conductor Fabio Luisi continues to dominate the international stage in 2014-15. In his third season as General Music Director of the Zurich Opera, where the programming reflects ever more clearly his unique artistic vision, the preeminent Italian conductor leads new productions of Martinu's seldom-staged Juliette and Bellini's bel canto masterpiece I Capuleti e i Montecchi; revivals of Norma, Ariadne auf Naxos, and Die Frau ohne Schatten; and a trio of Viennese-themed programs with the Philharmonia Zurich. Embarking on his fourth season as Principal Conductor of the Metropolitan Opera, he looks forward to premiering important new stagings of Cavalleria rusticana, I Pagliacci, and The Merry Widow, as well as directing a star-studded revival of Macbeth.

British pianist Stephen Hough makes his much-anticipated Bravo! Vail debut with Maestro Jaap van Zweden and the Dallas Symphony Orchestra on Sunday, June 29 at Vail's Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater. For his debut, Hough has selected Liszt's Piano Concerto No. 1 in E-flat major-a work of deep complexity and epic beauty that is an established favorite among music lovers the world over. Also featured on this varied concert program are Faure's Suite from the Incidental Music to Maeterlinck's Pelleas et Melisande, and Ravel's Suite No. 2 from Daphnis et Chloe. Acclaimed violinist Leonidas Kavakos will take both center stage and the podium to lead the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra (ASO) in a program featuring Bach's Violin Concerto No. 1. Mr. Kavakos will conduct the Orchestra in Sibelius's Pelleas et Melisande Suite as well as Beethoven's Symphony No. 3, 'Eroica.' The performances will take place today, May 15-16, 2014, at 8:00 p.m., and May 17, 2014, at 7:30 p.m. in Atlanta Symphony Hall at the Woodruff Arts Center.

Tonight, April 30 at the Kennedy Center Terrace Theater, and Friday May 2 at Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall, Opera Lafayette begins its commemoration of the 250th anniversary of Jean-Philippe Rameau's death with Celebrating Rameau Part One: The Salon, a program devoted to the great composer's vocal and instrumental chamber works. French harpsichordist Olivier Baumont, professor at the Paris Conservatoire, is featured in a solo suite, joins violinist and artistic director Ryan Brown and viola da gambist Kenneth Slowik in one of the composer's Pièces de clavecin en concert, and performs transcriptions from Les Indes Galantes with harpsichordist Andrew Appel. Sopranos Gaële Le Roi and Kelly Ballou, and baritone David Newman, join to perform the lively Canons and Airs published in the composer's historic Treatise on Harmony.

DAPHNE, Bach's Bass in B Minor & More Set for Cleveland Orchestra's 2014-15 Season

The Cleveland Orchestra has announced its 2014-15 season. Music Director Franz Welser-Möst's programs include Bach's Mass in B minor, and Brahms's Piano Concertos with Yefim Bronfman as soloist. Mr. Welser-Möst continues his long-standing tradition of opera performances at Severance Hall with concert performances of Richard Strauss's rarely heard opera Daphne. Guest artists returning to Severance Hall include Lang Lang, Christian Tetzlaff, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, and Mitsuko Uchida, and conductors Charles Dutoit, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, and Fabio Luisi. The Orchestra celebrates the 90th birthday of Pierre Boulez in three programs conducted by Franz Welser-Möst.
