Mark Ryder Original Choreography Grant Applications Now Available

Howard County Arts Council has announced that applications for the FY2023 Mark Ryder Original Choreography Grant Program are now available. Established at the bequest of Mark Ryder's family in honor of his life's work, this program recognizes individual creative expression by providing financial assistance to choreographers to create new original work.

Over the last year, in between shooting his two television series (as Whiterose on Mr. Robot, and as Awkwafina's father in Comedy Central's Awkwafina Is Nora From Queens), BD has managed to star in two theatrical productions of Lauren Yee's THE GREAT LEAP (in New York and in San Francisco), and now will be directing THE GREAT LEAP at the Pasadena Playhouse, which begins previews today November 6, 2019.

Producer Suzi Dietz announced today that on the heels of its successful run in Los Angeles, Miss America's Ugly Daughter written and performed by Bess Myerson's only child, Barra Grant, will open in New York this winter. Miss America's Ugly Daughter is a darkly comedic, poignant two character solo show about the seismic mother-daughter relationship of Bess Myerson and Barra Grant and will be directed by Eve Brandstein.

Howard County Arts Council (HCAC) is pleased to announce that applications for the FY2020 Mark Ryder Original Choreography Grant Program are now available. Established at the bequest of Mark Ryder's family in honor of his life's work, this program recognizes individual creative expression by providing financial assistance to choreographers to create new original work.  A fund has been established at the Columbia Foundation to enable monies to be awarded for this purpose in perpetuity. The grant award recipients will be announced at HCAC's Annual Meeting and Grant Awards Ceremony in September 2019.  The minimum grant amount will be $500.
