Renowned songwriter, producer, and arranger Bob Esty died on September 27, 2019 in Los Angeles, after a short battle with metastatic cancer. He was 72.

'Everybody Say Yeah' because this month BroadwayHD, the premiere streaming service for theater fans, is gearing up to add more electrifying performances including the record-breaking Broadway and West End hit, Kinky Boots.  The Tony-Award winning Kinky Boots, from pop icon Cyndi Lauper and legendary playwright Harvey Fierstein, which was filmed at London's Adelphi Theater last year, will be arriving on the service on July 15th. 

JPAS and Jonathan Mares Productions have announced a brand-new musical event from the multi-talented New Orleans singer and performer, Dorian Rush. This show, titled 100 Years of Women in Blues, will take the audience on a journey through the roots of blues back in 1919 all the way to today. One hundred years of love, heartache, tears, and struggles are the stories told in the lyrics of the songs sung by the Women of the Blues. Dorian Rush will tell these stories and sing these songs made famous by artists such as Ma Rainey, Big Mama Thornton, Billie Holiday, Irma Thomas, Janis Joplin, Bonnie Raitt, and Amy Winehouse among many others.

Join Infinity Dance Theater and Alison Cook Beatty Dance for a dynamic performance at The Riverside Theatre featuring 24 dancers with and without disabilities. Infinity's first formal New York concert program was presented at The Riverside Theatre in 1997, so Infinity is thrilled to return to Riverside in 2019 for a full concert engagement with Alison Cook Beatty Dance. Alison Cook-Beatty, Founder and Artistic Director, has performed with the Paul Taylor Dance Company and Taylor 2, among other companies and choreographers in New York City. She has performed with Infinity Dance Theater at The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

10 Hairy Legs, the male repertory dance company, holds its 7th consecutive New York Season with a return to New York Live Arts June 27-29. Presented are World Premieres by Larry Keigwin and Adam Barruch. Barruch's work will have a newly composed score by Roarke Menzies. Larry Keigwin is a native New Yorker and choreographer who has danced his way from the Metropolitan Opera to Broadway and back. He founded KEIGWIN + COMPANY in 2003 and as artistic director, he has led the company as it has performed at The Kennedy Center, The Joyce Theater, The Guggenheim, and New York City Center, among many other venues. Adam Barruch currently creates and performs work under the epithet of his own company, Anatomiae Occultii. In addition, he has also created works for companies such as The Limón Company, Ailey II, Keigwin + Company, Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company, River North Dance Chicago, BalletX, Whim W'Him Seattle Contemporary Dance, Graham II, GroundWorks Dance Theater, Gina Gibney Dance Company and Minnesota Dance Theatre, as well as for dance icons Margie Gillis and Miki Orihara.

Right on the heels of the closing of Queen of Basel, a Miami-set rebirth of Strindberg's Miss Julie, Studio Theatre is breathing new life into another classic. Most audiences are familiar with Shaw's Pygmalion - or, more likely, its musical counterpart My Fair Lady - in which a low-born member of society is taught how to fit in with the upper class. In P.Y.G. or The Mis-Edumacation of Dorian Belle, playwright and director Tearrance Arvelle Chisholm brings Shaw's play right to the eye of our cultural hurricane, centering the relationship between race, fame and cultural appropriation. Dorian Belle, a Canadian pop superstar, idolizes hip-hop group Petty Young Goons, and hires them to help 'toughen up' his image - all while being filmed for television, of course. Chisholm and two of his actors, Gary L. Perkins III (as Alexand Da Great, ½ of Petty Young Goons) and Simon Kiser (Dorian Belle), were interviewed separately over e-mail about their experiences during the rehearsal process and to provide their perspectives on what P.Y.G. can offer audiences.

Hartford Opera Theater will offer New in November 9, a collection of short operas and opera excerpts. This opera festival will play Sunday, November 18 (7pm) at The Cathedral House at Christ Church Cathedral, 45 Church Street, Hartford, CT. Winner of 19 major accolades, including multiple Tony, Olivier and Drama Desk Awards, Stephen Daldry's (Billy Elliot, The Crown) multi award-winning production of J.B. Priestley's classic thriller An Inspector Calls will kick off a four-city U.S. tour at Shakespeare Theatre Company from November 20 through December 23, 2018.

REDCAT, CalArts' downtown center for contemporary arts, announces adventurous international and LA performances featured in the ambitious new Fall 2018 season at REDCAT, including stunning stagecraft and object theater from Rotterdam, the world premiere of a new dance and video work by LA company David Rousseve/Reality, a slyly funny and poignant collaboration by German/British collective Gob Squad with six LA performers, a hilarious political musical-theater project by art collective My Barbarian, and the return of Christiane Jatahy with a Brazilian take on Chekhov's Three Sisters, which uses genius film techniques.

'Arizona Justice,' written and performed by Katherine Brann Fredricks, is a Michael Moore/Spalding Gray style documentary expose of corruption in Arizona, involving Senator Barry Goldwater, land fraud, water rights, the mob, money laundering and murder between the 1960's and the early 2000's. Theater for the New City's Dream Up Festival will present the play's world premiere August 26 to September 5.   Adam Chisnall directs.

PLANET CONNECTIONS' PLAYWRIGHTS FOR A CAUSE: This year, this event, designed to address a powerful social and topical issue facing our society today through engaging stage works, will explore the distinctions between gender and sexuality. The event will benefit THE ALI FORNEY CENTER.

Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) announces a one-on-one networking event with commercial and indie producers, Writer-Producer Speed Date onJuly 15, 2018 with coaching sessions at 4:30pm and 5:30pm at Studios 353,353 W 48th St, NYC.

After a successful run in Central Park, playing to over 4,000 people, performances resume on Wednesday, June 27 in Rockefeller Park/Battery Park City for New York Classical Theatre's critically acclaimed production of Romeo and Juliet, directed by the company's Founding Artistic Director Stephen Burdman. The production will play this week through June 30, before continuing on to The Battery, Carl Schurz Park, and Brooklyn Bridge Park for performances through July 29. Gingold Theatrical Group (David Staller, Artistic Director) is proud to announce that Bonhams and Turner Classic Movies (TCM) will present A Celebration of Robert Osborne, an auction of more than 400 posters and memorabilia from the estate of the beloved Turner Classic Movies host. Aside from the collection of rare posters, the sale, which will take place June 13th at Bonhams New York (580 Madison Avenue), will feature Bette Davis's personal Sarah Siddons Award, letters, film props, contracts, and theatre and film ephemera will be available. These items come from the personal collections of Robert Osborne and David Staller.

Mercury brings the 2017-18 season to a close with 'Four Seasons', a dramatic staged production from the creative minds of Artistic Director Antoine Plante and musician/composer Denis Plante merging words, music and imagination. Well-known Houston actor David Rainey, resident member of The Alley Theatre and Artistic Director of The Landing Theatre Company, joins the orchestra in the lead role for the three-performance theatrical premiere at the Hobby Center's Zilkha Hall on Saturday, June 16th and Sunday, June 17th.  

New York Classical Theatre (Stephen Burdman, Artistic Director), New York City's only all-free professional Off-Broadway theatre company, is pleased to announce a new production of William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet to celebrate its 19th Anniversary Season. The production, directed by Mr. Burdman, is the company's first staging of Shakespeare's tale of star-crossed lovers, and will be presented in five New York City parks - Central Park, Rockefeller Park/Battery Park City, The Battery, Carl Schurz Park and Brooklyn Bridge Park - with performances from June 5 through July 29 at 7:00 PM. There is no ticketing, and all performances are free and open to the public. New York Classical Theatre also invites audiences to experience unique behind-the-scenes access to open rehearsals on selected dates for each of the five park stagings. 

The Sarasota Ballet will revive Galina Samsova's production of Paquita during the company's 2018-19 season. The performances will take place on October 26, 27, and 28, 2018 at the FSU Center for the Performing Arts in Sarasota, Florida. Miss Samsova's production of Paquita was first staged for the Sarasota Ballet in 2010.

Studio Theatre celebrates its 40th anniversary in the 2018-2019 Season with the announcement of seven projects, all new to DC, that feel particularly alive to this political and cultural moment. From the revolutionary activism of students in South Africa to a story of rapid gentrification of its own neighborhood, Studio's anniversary season celebrates its legacy with an ambitious and thought-provoking slate of plays.

London Classic Theatre returns to the Everyman with their production of Noel Coward's comedy masterpiece, Private Lives. Olivia Beardsley and Helen Keeley reprise their roles as Sibyl Chase and Amanda Prynne and they are joined by three new cast members: Gareth Bennett-Ryan (Elyot Chase), Paul Sandys (Victor Prynne) and Rachael Holmes-Brown (Louise).

The Pacific Standard Time Festival: Live Art LA/LA, a celebration of performance art presented as part of the Getty-led initiative Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA, will run from January 11 through 21, 2018. Organized by REDCAT, CalArts' Center for Contemporary Arts, in collaboration with partner organizations throughout the city, the 11-day festival will feature more than 75 works by Latin American and Latino artists, performed at more than 20 indoor and outdoor spaces throughout greater Los Angeles. Supported by a major grant from the Getty Foundation, events will range from large-scale, site-specific performances to multi-artist evenings and will be presented in parks, plazas, galleries, theaters, and busy urban settings.
