Pace University's School of Performing Arts (PPA) welcomed 176 star freshmen to their graduating class of 2022. The school received a record number of applications this year from six continents with over 3,700 hopefuls vying for a spot at the innovative performing arts school. Applications from the United States were received from 49 states as well as Puerto Rico.

Theatr Clwyd today announces full cast for its Christmas pantomime, Dick Whittington - The Purrrrrfect Rock 'N' Roll Panto. Zoe Waterman directs Royce Cronin (King Rhydian the Rat), Toby Falla (Tomos the Cat), Phylip Harries (Sarah the Cook), Daniel Lloyd (Wally Fitzwarren), Alice McKenna (Scratch/Harriet), Peter Mooney (Dick Whittington), Lynwen Haf Roberts (Sultana), Emmy Stonelake (Alice Fitzwarren), Luke Thornton (Sniff/Tom/Guard) and Anna Westlake (Fairy Betty Bowbells). The production opens at Theatr Clwyd on 27 November, with previews from 23 November, and runs until 19 January 2019.

Steppenwolf for Young Adults (SYA) announced full casting for its upcoming production of We Are Proud to Present a Presentation About the Herero of Namibia, Formerly Known as South West Africa, From the German Sudwestafrika, Between the Years 1884-1915 by Jackie Sibblies Drury, co-directed by Hallie Gordon and Gabrielle Randle. It's the second of SYA's 2018-19 two-play season which asks, "When You Feel Lost, How Do You Find Your Way?" Composer Trevor Bachman kicks off the U.S. national tour of FARMED: A Live Podcast Album on May 11th at Joe's Pub. Described by the NY Times as 'musically and vocally rich' and noted for his 'soulful vocals', Bachman combines live interview with heart-pounding beats, electric harmonies, and an earth-shaking choir of voices. Sourcing interviews from audiences in cities around the country, FARMED, originally inspired by George Orwell's Animal Farm, bridges distant communities through conversation and song. Milwaukee Repertory Theater presents the World Premiere production of Lost Girl by Kimberly Belflower performed by the 2017/18 Professional Training Institute (PTI) ensemble this July 19-22, 2018 in the Stiemke Studio.  PTI is an advanced actor-training program for students in 8th-12th grade who may have an interest in pursuing a career as a professional theater artist.   The 2017/18 PTI ensemble features sixteen students hailing from fourteen different high schools who received free training from some of the top theater professionals in the world, culminating in this capstone performance  of Lost Girl where they will be employed as paid, professional actors.

Pride Films and Plays' Chicago premiere production of Daniel MacIvor's HIS GREATNESS - inspired by a 'potentially true story' during the declining days of Tennessee Williams - will be performed at the 15th Annual International Dublin Gay Play Festival, to be held May 7-20, 2018 in Dublin, Ireland. The entire original cast of last fall's production will travel to Dublin and will perform the play from May 14 - 19, with two performances on May 19th. In MacIvor's play, a great American playwright, his trusted and loyal assistant, and a young Canadian street hustler find themselves together for two days in a hotel room in Vancouver as the playwright is about to premiere a new play that he hopes will reinvigorate his career. The ensuing battle for power, love and loyalty is frequently funny, engagingly dark and ultimately moving.  Danne W. Taylor will repeat his role as "The Playwright," Andrew Kain Miller will return as "The Assistant" and Whitman Johnson will again play "The Young Man." Pride Films and Plays' Executive Director David Zak is again directing the play for this remount.

Milwaukee Repertory Theater's Associate Artistic Director May Adrales is the recipient of this year's Alan Schneider Director Award. The award was presented late yesterday at Theatre Communications Group's national conference in St. Louis, MS.  The award is designed to identify and assist exceptional directors whose talent has been demonstrated through work in specific regions, but who may not be well known nationally.   With it comes a cash prize of $7,500, which may be used for travel, research or other activities specifically focused on the directing craft or related career opportunities.
