To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee Dramatized by Christopher Sergel in Broadway TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD BY HARPER LEE DRAMATIZED BY CHRISTOPHER SERGEL
Renton Civic Theater
4/7-4/22/2017
Scout, a young girl in a quiet southern town, is about to experience dramatic events that will affect the rest of her life. She and brother, Jem, are being raised by their widower father, Atticus, and by their strong-minded housekeeper named Calpurnia. Wide-eyed Scout is fascinated with the sensitively revealed people of her small town but, from the start, there's a rumble of thunder just under the calm surface of the life here. Set in 1935, this play illustrates the social issues of this time period as the black people of the community have a special feeling about Scout's father. In her youthful innocence, she does not know why. A few of her white friends are inexplicably hostile and Scout doesn't understand this either. Atticus fights his legal battle with a result that is part defeat, part triumph. This dramatization of the touching classic tale is a meaningful work of art.

We only hold this event once every few years, and this one is special! You have a limited time to experience this Unexpected Productions' classic event ! Don't miss out! WHY WOULD WE DO THIS? Are we insane?... maybe a little! Unexpected Productions' Market Theater experienced some major renovations and need to raise some cash to help foot the bill. We were renovated for sound proofing in the theater, have a new lighting system, but we still need to finish the final renovations of the bathroom, upgrade our sound system and update the lobby.

Wellesley Girl in Broadway WELLESLEY GIRL
The Horse in Motion
4/13-4/29/2017
The Horse in Motion presents the West Coast Premiere of "Wellesley Girl" Written By Brendan Pelsue Directed by Bobbin Ramsey The year is 2465, and little remains of the United States. For the few survivors living inside a walled citadel, politics carries on as usual - with all the pageantry and partisanship of an old government that is now a distant memory. But when an opposing army shows up at their gates, the citizens of the new United States are confronted with the most important decision of their lives. With political grandstanding, personal sacrifice, and a love triangle with a robot, "Wellesley Girl" asks us all to confront the question: what if your vote could truly determine the future of the country?

KISS ME KATE
Seattle Musical Theatre
4/7-4/30/2017
Kiss Me Kate is the charming story that follows two musical theatre actors -once married, now divorced – as they star together in a Broadway-bound musical version of Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew. Soon, tensions mount and tempers flare, until it seems no amount of acting can save this show. But when two gangsters arrive to settle an old score, success becomes a matter of survival! Filled with slapstick humor and classic songs like “Wunderbar” and “So in Love,” along with sizzling dance numbers like “Too Darn Hot,” it’s no wonder Kiss Me Kate became Cole Porter’s biggest hit.

ROSENCRANTZ & GUILDENSTERN ARE DEAD (with THE 15 MINUTE HAMLET) in Broadway ROSENCRANTZ & GUILDENSTERN ARE DEAD (WITH THE 15 MINUTE HAMLET)
Lakewood Playhouse
4/14-5/7/2017
ROSENCRANTZ & GUILDENSTERN ARE DEAD ? This Production Celebrates the 50th ANNIVERSARY of the Show acclaimed as a modern comedic masterpiece, Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead! It is the fabulously inventive tale of Hamlet as told from the worm's-eye view of the bewildered Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, two minor characters in Shakespeare's play. In Tom Stoppard's best-known work, this Shakespearean Laurel and Hardy finally get a chance to take the lead role, but do so in a world where echoes of Waiting for Godot resound, where reality and illusion intermix, and where fate leads our two heroes to a tragic but inevitable end. PRESENTED WITH ? THE 15 MINUTE HAMLET Following his success with Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, the author continues his association with Hamlet by taking the most famous and best loved lines from Shakespeare's play and condensing them into a hilarious thirteen minute version. This miraculous feat is followed by an encore - a two minute version! The multitude of characters is played by six actors with hectic doubling, and the action takes place at an abridged Elsinore Castle. BOTH SHOWS are Lakewood Playhouse Premiers!

Piggyback: Stand up and Improv in Broadway PIGGYBACK: STAND UP AND IMPROV
Unexpected Productions
4/16-5/7/2017
Stand-up comedy and improv are usually two separate types of comedy that you won't see in the same show, but Unexpected Productions' Piggyback brings them both together so you can enjoy two types of comedy in one hilarious night. First, a professional comedian will perform their stand-up routine, then talented improv artists will create a narrative story in a particular genre of film or literature. The story created will be inspired by the material from the stand-up act. Piggyback has been featured at Bumbershoot, the Washington Comedy Festival, and the Highlarous Comedy Festival.
