Berkeley Repertory Theatre today revealed all seven productions for the 2021 subscription season. Berkeley Repertory Theatre today announced that patrons can buy tickets to either Culture Clash (Still) in America or Jocelyn Bioh's School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play online. Through a generous partnership with Actors' Equity Association, Stage Directors & Choreographers Society, United Scenic Artists, Local USA 829, IATSE, and BroadwayHD, patrons who hold tickets to the canceled productions are able to watch a high definition recording in the comfort of their own homes. Those ticket buyers will receive an email from Berkeley Rep this week with instructions on how to access their productions on BroadwayHD. (more...)

Berkeley Rep Cancels Performances Through April 5

Berkeley Repertory Theatre today announced that due to increasing concerns surrounding the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) and Governor Gavin Newsom's recommendation to postpone large events of more than 250 people, it will cancel future performances of its current production, Culture Clash (Still) in America. The Drama League Announces The Acting Company for DirectorFest 2020

The Drama League (Artistic Director Gabriel Stelian-Shanks, Executive Director Bevin Ross) announced today the acting company for the 36th annual DirectorFest, the only festival in the United States dedicated to the art of contemporary stage directing. The Drama League announced today the 2020 line-up of DirectorFest: The 36th Annual Directors Festival, the only festival in the United States dedicated to the art of contemporary stage directing. For its 36th year, the festival will include six fully-staged productions, a showcase concert of a new musical, a town hall, and conversations with directors including 2017 Tony Award Winner Rebecca Taichman (Indecent), 2014 Tony Award Winner and 2010 Drama League Founders Award for Excellence in Directing Kenny Leon (A Soldier's Play), and Intimacy Director Claire Warden (HBO's Mrs. Fletcher). Berkeley Rep Welcomes New Fellows For the 2019-20 Season

Berkeley Repertory Theatre announced today that 15 young professionals have been awarded fellowships for the 2019-20 season. Theatre graduates from universities across the nation apply for this program that provides a year-long deep dive into the operations of the award-winning theatre. Fellowships cover a variety of artistic and administrative disciplines and provide specialized training that assists fellows with embarking on a professional career in the arts. Additionally, fellows participate in career development seminars, build professional contacts, and even serve as mentors themselves for Berkeley Rep's annual Teen One-Acts Festival. (more...)

Berkeley Rep Rounds Out 2019-20 Season

Berkeley Repertory Theatre today announced that The Tale of Despereaux, a new musical, will join the 2019-20 season as its second special presentation solidifying the previously announced seven-show subscription season. Coming off a successful run at The Old Globe in San Diego, where it had its world premiere, The Tale of Despereaux, written and directed by PigPen Theatre Co. and co-directed by Marc Bruni, will begin previews at Berkeley Rep on Thursday, November 21, 2019 and run through Sunday, January 5, 2020. Tickets will go on sale in early August exclusively to Berkeley Rep's 2019-20 season subscribers before being made available to the general public. (more...)
