The Mary Jane Girls were brought together by Rick James who hired them as back-up singers. James gave the group their name, which was based on his funk hit “Mary Jane.” The girls found instant success on the soul charts with their self-titled debut album spawned no less than three hits: “Boys,” “All Night Long,” and “Candy Man.” Mary Jane Girls’ second album Only Four You featured the hit singles “Wild And Crazy Love,” “Beak It Up,” and their biggest hit “In My House.”
