Get your deerstalker cap on the plays afoot! Comedic genius Ken Ludwig (Lend Me A Tenor) turns Arthur Conan Doyles classic The Hound of the Baskervilles on its head and transforms it through theatrical inventiveness into a madcap comedy-adventure. To find their ingenious killer, Holmes and Watson must brave the desolate moors before a family curse dooms its newest heir. KING CHARLES III
Coronado Playhouse
3/23-4/22/2018
KING CHARLES III March 23 April 22, 2018 Thursday, Friday, Saturday @8pm & Sunday @2pm Please note there is no performance on Sunday, April 1, 2018 in observance of the Easter Holiday. There is an additional performance on Saturday, March 31 at 2pm By Mike Bartlett Director: Tyler Richards Hewes A Family Feud of Majestic Proportions The most glamorous and photographed family in the world, the British royal family, seen through a modern-Shakespearean lens. The Queen is Dead. Long Live the King. Queen Elizabeth II is dead and Prince Charles-after a lifetime of waiting-prepares to finally ascend to the throne. One family holds the future of Great Britain in its hands. But what do Prince William, Princess Kate, and Prince Harry really think about their fathers ascension? The Prime Minister proposes legislation designed to restrict the freedom of the press, which Charles opposes, subverting the understood rules of British democracy. Defying centuries of tradition, Charles boldly attempts to reassert the crowns power, landing himself and his country in a royal mess. Exploring the themes of power and betrayal, Mike Bartletts blank-verse, internationally acclaimed play, King Charles III, is a Shakespearean-style take on the future of the British Royal Family, skillfully revealing the living, breathing, nuanced flesh and blood people beneath the crowns.
